Where in the World is Pat Smith?

Hello,
I am writing this thread regarding the immersive text for Chyoo. In my stories I have used the first and last name code. In the past when the fields were left blank by the reader the name was automaticly picked as Pat Smith. This name is a good unisex name that works well for both male or female characters.

Tonight I was checking through my College Girl To Be story and I didn't bother entering a name. Now, I noticed that the main MALE character is named JANE DOE! What the fuck!? Jane is not a guys name... why has Chyoo ditched the unisex name. Is there a new code that determines between male and female? Maybe something like {MALE_FIRST_NAME} ????

Anybody know? I am lost. I don't like the idea of men being called Jane. It takes away from their MANHOOD!

chyoo 2 killed Pat

Ordinarily John Doe comes up as the generic alternative. I'm not sure what causes Jane Doe to come up, I noticed that once myself, and all the other male pronouns were changed as well. (i.e. his > her) Since then it's been back to John again. ?!?

You can make it come up with neither as well. If you jump to a thread in the middle of a name prompt story, bypassing the name entry the entries don't even appear in the story.

Simple Solution

Maybe the simple solution is just to enter Pat Smith, or whatever you want at the start of the story since the automatic generic name seems to have some problems.

I just enter my name everytime I his a submersive story and that seems to work fine.

I personally don't like the submersive feature, and find that it makes it harder to write, and read. Half the time I think people checked the box in the setup without realizing what they were doing.

Tonight John was back

Tonight I noticed that stories I went into had all Johns no Janes. Maybe it is working correctly again.

well,
I have always gotten Jane. I checked just a couple minutes ago and it was Jane. I checked with College Girl To Be, and Quiet Streets. Both appeared as Jane. And with Quiet streets, there is the option to pick both male or female and both came out as JANE. How does Chyoo determine between Jane and John? or is it random? I dunno...

Now, with what Deathofcards said. I have done that too and have had 2 things happen. Sometimes there is NO name, others it is Jane.
