What political tendency do you most closely adhere to, and in what ways do you most strongly differ from others who hold to that tendency?

We have leftists here who aren't all that heavily invested in LGBTQ+ issues, and we have vehemently anti-police rightists. So, what's your particular heresy? C'mon, let's see if there's any non-npc's on this forum.

I'm appalled by the left's recent antisemitic turn. Fortunately, it seems like people are starting to regret jumping on the bandwagon to bash Israel, so I'm starting to feel less isolated.

Mostly, lately, it's the left's insistence on changing long standing rules - packing SCOTUS as an example.

But also, my continued confidence in the court system is a big one. I also seem to differ from the right on that one as well. And specifically confidence in SCOTUS justices which I disagree with that provide balance.much of the time. It's probably one of the most balanced courts in recent history.

Me: Leftist generally, Marx-Leninist specifically.

Divergence: I don't think COVID-19 vaccines were ever strictly necessary for most healthy teens or adults, and I think it's entirely possible that they did a lot more harm than good.

My biggest apostasy: I reject the belief that only men can be sexist and only whites can be racist. While I understand the logic behind that argument, I think it's just an excuse for people to never bother taking a second look at their own prejudices and double standards. I have no argument that institutional racism and sexism are a one-way street, but that's a slightly different issue.

I identify as a TRADITIONAL conservative, as opposed to the 2016-era re-interpretation of that term. Meaning, I would more likely support a moderate-conservative candidate such as the first George Bush, or even earlier, 1950s era Republican candidates such as Eisenhower, than anyone from either party today. I abhor the anti-social, totalitarian, bigoted leanings of today's self-proclaimed "Conservatives" and distrust the well-intentioned but generally flawed policies of the left-wing liberals.

I guess you would call me a centrist, but I tend to criticize the (so-called) "Conservatives" on this board far more than the liberals because 1) they are more vocal, especially given that many use multiple aliases on the forums, and 2) because of their flagrant bigotry, ignorance, and embracing of anti-democratic and totalitarian ideals which I, along with many other traditional conservatives, find utterly appalling.

A conservative is someone who wishes to conserve the founding principles of a nation or society. American society is built on bloodshed, oppression, and racism. So is it not unfair to say that anyone claiming to support those is, whatever else they may be, better at being conservative than you?

That's an... odd choice of preferences.

Eisenhower gave us the Mordad coup, PBSuccess, the invasion of Lebanon. Bush gave us... practically everything wrong with the world that wasn't already wrong pre-2001. Those are your "good conservatives," compared to Trump?

At least Trump's damage was mostly the result of incompetence rather than outright malice.

Capitalism and socialism will fail and disappear, since they require constant economic expansion. Feudalism will probably be here for a few centuries until something else starts, maybe some type of syndicalism. Gang leaders and warlords becoming barons could be the start of the next government of the various smaller nations replacing the USA.

At least Trump kept most of his killing, in the form of COVID mismanagement, in-country.
Um…

Why start a thread that gives a seemingly open invite for folks to give their unabashed opinion to then scold them upon giving? Just askin 🤷‍♀️

The recent spate of 6-3 decisions from the Supreme Court suggests otherwise to me.

1. Felt like reviving the thread.
2. I was being pretty nice, by my standards. I really did find the statement curious.

i never know. i'm a ping pong ball. i like some stuff from the left. i like some stuff from the right.

i don't like the lying. there's too much of it coming from the left. the biden/harris administration lied to us for years about the health of our president being the biggest one. this lie, this weakness on the world stage has led to the death of about half a million men, women and children so far. they don't deserve a second chance. zero.

anybody voting for more war should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't think I can make it any simpler than that. And even that is too close.

I don't identify with either Party. They have both gone off the rails. I only care about trump never again being President.

I identify with the Democratic Party, I believe that what currently passes as the Republican party is attempting to pivot America towards fascism. I am against authoritarianism in any form,

I draw the line at "reparations", which is a non-troversy, it's a straw man argument that will never happen.

I like President Joe Biden's proposal for Supreme Court reform, especially his phased in approach so that basically a President gets to appoint two Justices per four year term. Anyone who considers this "court packing" doesn't understand the proposal.

With an out of control Supreme Court who have jettisoned "precedent" for political advantage, I think it is time for the Senate to jettison the filibuster rule completely to restore balance to politics.

It's also time to mandate an mandatory retirement age for all three branches of the federal government.
