Where do you go to escape from the world when you want to be alone with your thoughts?

I like to go walk in the park. There is a large pond with a bridge..it's so soothing. I really relish my alone time and do it as often as I can.

The forest and the mountains.

Keene Valley in the Adirondack Mountains.

Mexico

A beautiful beach front hotel in Huatulco, Mexico. The hotel is the Camino Real Zashila on Tangalunda Bay.

No place like it on this continent.

to the ocean always

to breathe the salt air deep into my lungs ...

to walk along the edge of the water ...

to hear the waves crashing or lapping ...

to sit in the sand watching the boats out to sea ...

to feel the sun warm my face ...

but then again ... I have salt water running through my veins

It depends

If I can get away from the house, I go to River Front... It is beautiful there, and standing on the cliffs looking at the river is so peaceful. Or, a little closer to home, there is a little creek that is really soothing on our land (it is on the back part, not near my house). If I can't get away from home, then I go take a long HOT bath, use my bath mat (it makes bubbles), and put on soothing music. It's better than nothing!

Storm

To the beach any time of year.

To the rockies when i can get there.

To a hot bath if time permits.

For an "everyday" getaway.....my herb garden.

To really get away when the stress gets bad....the mountains of Eastern Tennessee or to the shores of Lake Erie.

I go to my home, turn off the phones, cell phone, computer, tv, radio, everything. Then I hide for however long is necessary.

I've been known to park my car down the street and walk home so my nosy friends won't realize I'm hiding.

There is no place to go, no place to hide from young children. They even follow me into the bathroom.

Even when there is time its tough to keep the bathroom door closed. Can't miss those mommy mommy calls.

The bath! A nice long hot bubble bath, with candles and a good glass of wine. *given the little one has finally fallen asleep*

That or I like to take a long drive to the coast. Something peaceful for me about the ocean. I like to collect my thoughts there. *it doesn't happen often enough*

The best thing about living were I do is that the ocean or the bay is about 10 miles in three directions. Even is all I have is 40 minutes I can get to water.

* My back yard ... go out and kick back on my hammock. :)

* Take a long drive and head out to the beach for a long walk.

Lucky! Until 4 years ago, I spent most of my life living near the ocean. Now it is about a 2 hour drive. Good thing I like long drives.

Add long drives to my list.

A long soak in the bath with a good book and a lovely glass of wine.
In my garden, listening to the birds and crickets.
Writing.

Pssst Rubyfruit you can come borrow my bath anytime you like. I'll look after the kids. :)

To the beach with a book.... I can just sit there and listen to the waves while I read- hey, it works.

Or I go on a long walk somewhere and listen to music while I walk.... that's relaxing.

Anywhere out of my apartment! I enjoy walking around my neighborhood, passing the theatres, seeing what is and who are performing in my "magical" neighborhood.

When I can get away, I enjoy a boardwark... usually Atlantic City.... and simply take in the ocean breeze and get lost in the sound of the waves.

That is very tempting, Debbie. Hmmm, I wonder what the airfare for the four of us would be? No matter, I'm sure it would be money well spent. :)

I go to Valdemar.

Or Middle Earth.

Or Never Never Land.

Sometimes Down the Rabbit Hole.

Or what ever land what ever book I am devouring at that given moment is based on.
