Have to ask where do all the authors go seems that some very good authors just disappear sometimes in mid story.
Examples are Bostonfictionwriter, Nikki H and so many more, any one have any ideas?

Some just change names, some get tired of their personal trolls, some switch to publishing only to the market.

Well, the good ones go to where all good authors go, to publishing heaven. That's where writing stories always comes easy, is always perfect and doesn't need editing, and if beloved by everyone who reads it with nary a troll in sight....

But you still don't get paid for it.

Yeah, let's keep saying that so the market doesn't get more flooded than it is. It'll let me do more during my royalty-supported vacation in Europe.

Oh, you're so cool! maybe I'll run into you out there on my e-bay supported trip this summer.

Another direction writers go in is simple "burn out" some people just can only write so many stories then get bored and move on to do other things.

Some authors pulled their stories after they were stolen by other sites. The ones that did moved on the e-publishing among other things.

Don't count on it. Still into personal attacking, I see.

Could you be more jealous? ;)

The point to 3113's statement on the profitability of e-booking is that some folks posting for free here have discovered there is money in e-booking it (and, as a matter of fact, it is paying for my fall trip to Europe.)

And in my head (oh that queer pragmatic religion...), that is a venal sin. However, those who burn-out midway thru a story line burn in a special circle of hell.

Moderated by myself, of course. :caning:

Aristophanes said the same thing 2500 years ago--"All the good writers are gone, and the rest are good for nothing."

But then a newbie shines through the dark, and then another, and maybe an old favorite makes a comeback, and all is well.

I pulled all my stories cuz I got pissed off at Lit when they bitched about a link in my sig to my blog, and then I'm also publishing my stories on Amazon Kindle.
I don't show up in AH much anymore because I often just get bored of the discussions.

Cancer, lay-off, divorce, death in the family, career change, going back to school, getting married, having children, relocating, surgery, home care for a family member...

Just a few ideas of what happens to people that can take them away from writing stories for free on Literotica, and yes, rather suddenly in the middle of a story.

Those that really want to finish that story might take a decade or more to do it. Poking around in the Literary Criticism or Literary Biography section of the library and bookstores, I actually see these same things have been happening in the past 2 centuries as well--for those authors that were actually remembered.

Sometimes writing erotic stories for free just can't take priority over other things.

Life happens.

Especially if ya happen to have a real one. ;)

In a post here in AH on 1/12/2011, Bostonfictionwriter identified the alts [at least some of them] she has used on Lit. Checking it out just now, I found them all, and they're still here:

Bostonfictionwriter, 677 stories, 2007/8
CarBuffStuff, 9 stories, 2009
PositiveThinker, 84 stories, 2009
WmForrester, 8 stories, 2009
Andtheend, 91 stories, 2010
SuperHeroRalph, 90 stories, 2011

Dunno if she has chosen a new alt for 2012, or just hasn't submitted anything as SuperHeroRalph this year.

Hope this helps. [Thanks to her attitudes in posts here in AH, and on other, non-Lit BBs I have seen her on, I was never tempted to read any of her stories.]

[Although BFW identifies herself in all of those profiles as female, she has variously ID'ed herself as Freddie, Joe, Paul, Elizabeth, Susan, and Christine, respectively, in that 1/12/2011 AH post. Dunno what's going on with that.]

Well played.
