Hello! So I am a recent arrival in terms of being a member, while it’s fun to have a place to put my more scandalous writing, this site is feeling like a heteronormative sausage fest. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but if you’re a woman and bi/pan, it gets old fast. Just looking to chat and maybe some friends!

That is not a new observation. Having looked at some of the older active male oriented threads in this forum, they've also said this is much more male active forum. I've also had women tell me it might be better if there are separate forums for girls and guys.

It just leads to (a) a lot of stuff I can’t relate to, and (b) some discomfort like anyone who isn’t a straight white guy who dares to have an opinion on an Internet forum. Besides, since I can on here some random guys have been sending me private messages which I have ignored. It’s just a little unnerving.

tbh it's easier to find female friends in the playground, because everything here is pretty much dick. I'm sure you don't need to be warned that not every woman is a woman, but I think all the men are men, though some may be dogs

Good to know! I can certainly say that some act like dogs, specifically the ill behaved butt sniffing variety. I have (I think) a good sense of what’s real and fake.
Though seriously, though none of them have been outright it’s extremely obvious why they want to chat with you, but not once did they pause and think (1) would I respond, and (2) what would make me likely to respond? Hint: it’s not random out of the blue comments, adding your age, or showing you haven’t read my posts or works.

I find it especially galling when it is obvious they haven't read your posts or taken two seconds to figure out your nature and preference from what you have written and where. I will grant them the new profile pages are useless, but is really that hard to construct a complete sentence of introduction and ask a polite question or two before assuming a 30 year old lesbian is going to jump at the chance to see a picture of their flaccid brain stem?

Unlike some here, I can't claim that my experience has been unpleasant. Male specimens usually tend to why shy away from pursuing any conversation with me. The ones who do, if not polite, get quickly shut down. Sarcasm is often an effective mean to dismantle fragile egos. If all else fails, there's always the ignore button.

I hope your stay here knows more highs than lows.

I’m glad to say that any unwanted messages have tapered off, due to a combination of snark and deletion. It’s quite a relief tbh. Apparently some guys on here think think you (any woman) are a sex hungry kitten just because you’re here, so you need to show you can turn into a tiger at a moment’s notice.
And yes it is just guys. The only women who PMed me did so because I PMed her first. I got so fed up at first I made a How To thread about how NOT to message people (which no one read, but c’est la vie).

Like yesterday I got one who asked if I could manipulate things (meaning his you-know-what) with my mind, and I cheerily offered to hex him into a state of poverty or male pattern baldness. It was fun though.

I would agree that it's incredibly difficult to find female friends to chat with. While I do enjoy chatting with the boys, when it comes to really opening up, and sharing your innermost feelings and intimate secrets, they run away.
