When the lit forums close

...I did not take the time to read the whole thread.

FOSTA is a US law and so only applies to sites based in the US. Some of these sites could easily set up a base in another country, if they don't have one already, and still be good. US laws aren't good in other countries.

Now if I'm wrong on any of this please forgive me I'm not a lawyer and don't know much about law that wasn't taught in my high school government class.

On the surface you'd be right. But the US has determined that their laws apply to US citizens EVERYWHERE. So, if you're a US citizen, US law applies to you no matter where in the world you are.

Which could raise some interesting conflicts if the place you're in mandates behavior that would be illegal in the US. Or engaging in activities which are perfectly legal in that locale but not in the US (such as ingesting drugs the US has determined are illegal for it's citizens to use).

As tor FOSTA, I think it's despicable. We have enough laws on the books to catch and prosecute sex criminals. All FOSTA does is attempt to legislate morality.

"Sex workers are terrified:" Less than three weeks after the so-called anti-sex trafficking bill became law, the consequences are dire.

Lit should become a sanctuary city for displaced hookers.
