When I Was a Kid....

When I was a kid, meal times were fabulous...Almost every morning I had pancakes that were made in the shape of animals...and even a plain generic circle pancake was not just a pancake, it was sunshine, the moon or a snowball...lol...:):rose:

When I was a kid....

Gas was 25 cents a gallon and I remember my Dad complaining about it

When I was kid, there was no such thing as climate change, just hot summers and cold winters.....

heh When I was a kid, everyone knew that science couldn't predict weather patterns. In fact when I was older, they needed satellites before they could "predict" which direction a storm MIGHT take, yet people still scoffed at meteorologists.

WIWAK we wasted so much T.P. decorating the houses and trees in our neighborhood...yet we never got in trouble for it. :D

WIWAK we would spend all summer playing "war" against the kids who lived on the other side of the block.

When I was a kid,

During the winters, kids on one side of the street would have a snowball fight with the kids on the other side of the street. Of course, any kid walking down the street was fair game and you'd have hell to pay if you hit an adult or passing car by accident.

During the summer, the adults would bring their picnic tables out onto the street and barricades were put up on either end of the street by the local police, and everyone would have a block party. Music and food was brought out to be had by one and all.

Not many snowball fights in Florida, and all year around, people stay locked up in their homes.

WIWAK we used to spend the summers at my Grandmother's summer place with my cousins at Santee Lake in South Carolina. Fishing on our pier, sleeping in make shift tents, swimming, boating ,water skiing, riding mini bikes and dirt bikes. Playing baseball in the Little League.

When I was a kid, Sundays represented a countdown to school the next day...looking back nothing has really changed.

WIWAK I had no cell phone and used to bike miles around my city, exploring things and having fun with friends.

Kids nowadays...

when I was a kid, I loathed eating Chinese food...now, I absolutely love it..in fact , I just had some for lunch today.

WIWAK I memorized every phone number I needed, I rarely kept a physical phone book...Basically, I walked around with what would have been my cell phone contact list in my head...Now, I can only remember the numbers of family and friends I'd memorized before I got a cell phone...A lot of those numbers are to land lines...

When I was a kid, they told me I should be an attorney because of my arguing skills! Soon I will be :)

Me has never ever lived where I would wake up to snow ...
but when I was a kid we enjoyed a similar sense of community - Sweet As
