At some point McDonaldDouglas and Boeing merged.

I think I have that right

The administrators of McDonaldDouglas took over? Using the production methods they used for military aircraft for planes that carry a lot more people worldwide a hell of a lot more often with a lot less mechanics taking care of their products on a much faster timeline than any aircraft they ever delivered to the US Government.

My question. At what point did the FAA back off and allow Boeing to monitor its own safety?? Cuz of course a corporation has the same sort of concerns a HUMAN about human life. Did “deregulation” play a part??
Did saving government money work out??
Who got campaign donations to look the other way???

Eh! No worries!! A few downed airplanes. Some stranded astronauts! That’s just American know how !!

We be saving money!! Government bad!! “Deep state”!!!

Dip shits!!

Let’s not even start on FDA inspections !!

Liquid Shit? Keep that meat processing running! Workers sick with COViD? Keep them working ! CDC failed under Trump, big time! How many workers died due to Trump’s influence??

It's not just meat, it's across the entire food production industry. The Fed's began letting them "self monitor" for things like E Coli and Salmonella a long time ago. Well before Trump.

What's worse than the uncertainty and almost continual recalls is the fact that we're still fully funding the Feds to monitor our food production but they're not doing it despite getting paid to do exactly that.

Wait, I’m sorry, but are you actually complaining that government isn’t big enough? Orange Fuhrer wants to eliminate most government agencies. Corporations are our friends—they love us! Why would they hurt us by making shitty products?

Oh that’s right. They’re evil profit loving assholes that don’t give a shit if you live or die—they just want the money. Just like your Orange Fuhrer.

I'm on the verge of patenting a revolutionary new plane, but I can't spill the beans to the press just yet. This beauty is going to be—MAGA-level stuff, I tell you! It's a groundbreaking combination of polymer and paper for lighter-than-air lift ability. It won't need much propulsion and will run on carbon-water properties. I'm negotiating with that patent holder now. He tells me the formula is almost ready for commercial production. The only hitch is that we're dealing with some pesky termites who seem to have a thing for the paper components. But hey, we'll figure that out, won't we? It's not like they will eat a hole in the floor while in flight! Boeing won't have anything on me once I get it up and flying. I plan a space version, too, and have an inside ace with the creator of Space Force for a trial order. That's a sure thing on day one!

Boeing suffers the same easily observable phenomenon as does government. The uniqueness of the product it is involved in makes it insular and monopolistic and it tends towards people's careers and ambitions over the mission, which generally suffers creep and as the organism, and it is an organic entity in may ways grows, it adds layers, thickness, gains permanency, slows down, becomes complacent, unaware of the rot growing, like an old oak tree, within it hollowing it out, rendering it unstable and ready for collapse; to be consumed alive by smaller, quicker organisms...

... like that nasty little Elon...

lol boomer. Nah, Boeing simply replaced the leadership engineers who placed a premium on safety with accountants and MBAs who put a premium on short term quarterly profits. That’s not mission creep and whatever flowery muck you wrote, but a deliberate change in management emphasis.
