... does another open?

If so, is it in the same "hallway" or "room"?
Will necessarily lead anywhere, or might it be a dead end?
Are there other doors? Maybe closed, but not locked?
Perhaps the 1st door wasn't locked, only shut, and one need to try it...or knock?

I am inclined to think there are many "doors", some are locked to us, but perhaps we can find the key(s), or even force them open. We do not always know what is inside without passing the threshold...... and then, in some cases we can return and in others we must move forward. Maybe we end in a closed room..........though with great effort can create our own exit...if we have a reciprocating saw and an outlet.

I have passed several closed doors, or inadvertently caused them to close. I am in a room with only high windows to get a glimpse beyond. Time to choose a wall and bust out.

Is there a table in the room?

If so..
I can look at the table and think what I saw, take that saw and cut the table in half. take both halves...noting that two halves make a (w)hole...and crawl through the hole and I am free!!!

Actually I've been in the same room. No doors no windows. But it seemed in I kept my patience, a window and door opened.

Interesting. As I have been patient a very long time...and it is wearing thin.
I think that part of how I became stuck i here was my own inaction and the door became swollen shut and has since melded into the wall. I probably could have yanked it open a l-o-n-g time ago, if I had been strong enough.

I did not walk out through the door but I kicked the walls down. ;)

I love to feel the wind of freeedom on my face.

I have often thought about this door thing...

I have a few different thoughts...perhaps even a tad conflicting...

First...I just really think that so many of us miss new and beautiful doors opening because we are just too fixated on looking back at the closed one... so, In turn we just miss so much due to that...

On the other hand though...I think after one door closes we need to find some peace and heal before we move forward...Many of those closed doors have caused pain, suffering and or deep emotional turmoil...So in that spirit we need to heal and or be ready in heart and emotion for what is coming...we need time to heal and find a personal peace or the next opportunity or relationship or gift that is there may not be appreciated...

Personally I dont like doors...

I'm not sure any of you are looking at the problem the way I see it. I am not trapped in a room, rather I am trapped inside of a window which is suspended in the middle of a room. Everyone that enters can see me, and I can see their freedom.

If I could somehow open the window, all would be fine. What is needed is another to enter the room, walk over without shutting the door first and either open or break the window.

Anyone got a brick????

There was a time when that might have been the route. Unfortunately the building will fall on others. Glad you got out.

I agree. It is interesting which side of a door one perceives themselves...inside or outside or perhaps just separated.
And many things in life are conflicting.

Generally I like doors...as gateways to possibilities...as mysteries.

A magic window...much like a magic mirror... with only 2 dimensions.
A curious metaphor.

Yet... my "room" is not a physical space (obviously...? I hope), nor are the doors "Solid", yet they feel very substantial. Must get on with it.... off to the shower and to do something.

Your room, is it painted or have wallpaper hung? If it is shrouded in wallpaper, perhaps you could start by peeling the wallpaper off. You might uncover something interesting - perhpas a door or something better.

We do tend to impede our progress by holding ourselves back. We could do well to use that pain to move ourselves forward, like an athlete who works their body to the breaking point, then uses that pain to motivate themselves to push further, becoming stronger.

....and then....with "plastic" walls...they sometimes move in closer and closer and make it difficult to breath.

It is all well and good to suggest the ol' "pick yourself up by your bootstraps" method...and sometimes that can work...other times, too frequently, one cannot "just" help themseves via grit and determination.

Very similar to being in a room with no doors/Windows/drains with a faucet that cannot be shut. You need to alter your only other frame of reference: time. Unless of course you develop the ability to breathe underwater.

I used to like a phrase that someone had on their sig...not sure who the quote was by but it was along the lines of...when one door closes, we often stare so long at it that we miss another opening right behind us...

This was a great lesson I learned...

yes, BlackCashmere said something similar earlier.

I suppose a portal gun is the thing.

Uhmmm. I just ordered a portal gun on eBay. The vendor is going to drop ship it to right to my door.

Oops. I'm going to need some help with that.
