What's your ideal type of wedding ceremony?

To make it completely legit?

Vegas. Sunset. Fresh-cut red, yellow and white roses. Our revised hand-written vows. Him a sleek suit - I envision a purposely tacky soft blue suit trimmed with red. Me a white dress with a slight dash of purposely funky red (I'm the best shopper when I'm completely impulsive so once I spot it, it'll become me - none of that looking online for months crap). Our favorite music. Only our best friends there. Celebration. Dinner. Champagne. An awesome suite. A whole week to ravish each other. And a whole lifetime to love and respect each other.

Where?
What type of wedding dress?
What else?

Anyone?
Formal ceremony in church in a traditional wedding gown. Big reception/party afterwards with lots of people to celebrate with.

I've already had the perfect wedding.

I don't get that. Why be formal at an intimate gathering in a relaxed setting?

Because that's what they want.

Exactly what I'm getting. Beach at sunset, formal wedding gown, and a BBQ afterward.

I had my perfect wedding

Just the two of us, on the beach, barefeet!

It was wonderfull, our wedding pics are great with the sun setting into the ocean with us walking hand in hand on the beach

What we could have spent on a big wedding at home, we spent on 10 days on a island. :) :) :)

Yesterday, I saw a very attractive and fashionably dressed bride and groom. They had their ceremony in the early afternoon, followed by a celebration lunch.

Then I watched them play the slots for 2 hours.

Hmmm...?

Huge formal black tie wedding
Full orchestra with conductor playing standards from the 30's & 40's
Huge cake...chocolate cake with raspberry filling & white royal icing.
Couture gown by Vera Wang
Kathleen Battle & Linda Eder to sing Ave Maria & Panis Angelicus at the wedding.
Full open bar & plenty of champagne.
a formal sit down dinner
sushi bar for my crazier friends
Hot male waiters
No kids.
I figure it would run around around $350,000+

I've thought about this alot.

the free kind (or almost free!)
my wedding and honeymoon was a grand total of AUD$850-00.
150 guests, a courthouse, and a friends garden for the reception.
everyone chipped in - my dress i made myself (yes, i am quite a talented seamstress), the groom wore a hired suit, each guest bought food and drink, the best man organised a sheep-on-the-spit free, the entertainment was provided by a friends' band, the cars were loaned by another friend, the flowers were all fresh picked from everyone's garden that morning, the cake was made by another friend.
the only costs were suit hire for the groom, the lisences for the marriage, hire of trestle tables and chairs, and the rings.

the honeymoon was a road trip to the Kimberly (NW Australia) for 12 days, using a friend's 4-wheel drive and with fuel given as a wedding gift.
honeymoon cost?
about $150 for food and park permits :D

Fly to a tropical island, have the ceremony there. Anyone who wants to fly out and witness it is welcome to. Honeymoon to immediately follow (witnesses aren't welcome there).

Wedding dress.... hmmm... I haven't given that much thought- maybe a long slipgown or something.

Come home and rent out a hall for a party for friends and family.

I've seen too much money, hard work and pressure go into planning formal weddings. It's totally not for me.

My ideal wedding ceremony is one where the bride, groom and all the guests get killed in an explosion. Why prolong the agony, get it over on the first day.

Pick your wedding event according to both your passions.
Too many people spend large amounts on ceremony and "one upping" another couple instead of using the cash to launch the marriage with no financial probs to get in the way.....pure status.
What if they couple already has no financial problems and the wedding costs are just pocket change to them?

Some people just want a big party to celebrate. :)
