What's Wrong with Brainiacs?

I signed up for match.com just poking around, and I keep getting these Match things so I read the profile and it says "Turn Offs: Brainiacs."

My sister bought me a t-shirt that say "People who think they know everything really annoy those of us who do."

So I read a lot, I have good recall, I got some technical education, I'm interested in history, I pay attention to current events, I have an opinion.

I see that sometimes people get upset with me because they think I'm trying to demean them, or talk down to them, like I'm acting Smart.

I'm not trying to do anything like that, I'm trying to have a reasoned adult conversation. I'm not trying to act like I'm smarter than other people, but they act like I am.

People ask me questions, I usually have answers, sorry I thought people were supposed to learn things, excuse me for learning something.

Why is a "Brainiac" a turn-off to women?

I had similar experiences when I was much younger. Some people are intimidated by intelligent men and women.

I'm sure that there are plenty of people out there who will appreciate your intelligence. The trick, I suppose, is being patient. Easier said than done, though, isn't it?

Why is a "Brainiac" a turn-off to women?

When you start talking about a subject that another person is not as informed on, it makes them feel less intelligent, less knowing, so they instantly go on the defensive. Rather than see the problem that lies within themselves, the need to learn more, they strike out at the intelligent person and label them condescending, arrogant, or any other such term.

Society tailors to the average joe, those who are less or more than that suffer the consequences.

(I've seen the same phrase on a sticker that's at work, great quote )

Just like some guys only want a woman with a large rack, I guess some girls don't want guys with large "brains." It's short sighted, if you ask me. And like someone else mentioned, the girl might not want to feel "stupid" in a conversation.

It's a catch 22 BBLB.. You can't. Even if you try to 'dummy' yourself down, then they think you're just treating them like idiots..

I've lost the majority of my vocabulary since I'm not in school anymore, I just don't use any of the complex words in day to day conversations like I used too. I really miss having other intellectuals to talk with.

yeah, i just moved to a town that is somewhat hicksville- and i feel that i cannot have an intellectual conversation with anyone here! i called someone incorrigable, and they looked at me like i had four heads! i didn't think that word was that "out there"

Another problem is I've had a technical education, I know a buch of acronyms and the proper names for bunches of wizzbangs and gizmos.

Excuse me, I'm looking for a spudger and a punch tool, how about a MOD Tap and a Butt Set. I'm trying to make some Patch Cables TIA 568B and I need RJ-45s. The guy before me was incompetent and I have to straighten out this SNAFU.
