When a new Discworld novel is released I devour it. Page after page. If I didn't limit myself I would read it in one sitting
I recently bought 'Young Bleys' by Gordon R Dickson (part of the Childe Cycle, Dorsai, Kensie Graham, Exotics, The Friendly worlds, all that) It is absolutely as fascinating as any book I've ever read. But I put it down after maybe 10 or 20 pages, having read enough.
I'm guessing the difference is in vocabulary. Possibly in the amount of information I need to absorb.
What's that about?
