I was just venting about this to Tol a little while ago.
I don't want a replacement where everything is sex, I've worked really hard to make my blog a nice mix...
Ugh.
I'm really bummed about it.
Also I wish fet wasn't black screen with white text. It hurts my eyes after 5 minutes and I can't read things for long.

A dilemma:
So, the thing about Lit is that the only time you see people is when they post pics. Which can be carefully shot, filtered or edited to make them look better. But...
It still feels weird commenting on people's pics. It's too easy to throw around effusive praise, which makes it feel just kind of tawdry to use. And I try to keep my comments on the photo, the artistry and such. Not to objectify if possible, even if they're posting something revealing or sexy. But it still feels awkward, and too hard to convey honest admiration of physical beauty or artistry with the limited vocabulary available to me.
And that's before the very occassional moment when you open a pic, your jaw drops, your brain melts and you just can't fully process what you're seeing. There is one poster here that does that to me almost every time. It's not a crush. I'm not lusting for her and I don't want to fuck her, or play with her. She's just simply beautiful. But saying that, even when it's honest and not meant as an approach or a pass, feels off. If I try to measure my response it feels false. Insincere. But if I say what my brain thinks, it feels hyperbolic and over the top.
I feel like this is a me problem, rather than a Lit problem. But I've yet to work out a solution.

I had seen it as a possible alternative to facebook, but didn't think about it as a replacement for tumblr. I don't think there's anything that will be like tumblr yet.

It's pretty amazing that Tumblr was just out there for free for so long. I've wasted countless hours there. IMHO, now that it's owned by Verizon it's not surprising that the NSFW aspect is being shut down. Verizon is profit-oriented and Tumblr is not a revenue generating app. (Remember when they were putting all the ads between the porn images? That didn't last long.) Because of Verizon's having fingers in internet delivery and cell communications, they need to have a squeaky-clean image - I mean you never know when they might have to have a merger approved by the Republicans or something.

I was following a pretty good mix and had a fair amount of artsy non sexual content as well. And most of the sexually explicit stuff was super classy. Except for a select few.
I am looking for a viable replacement roo.

I had an account there, I think I still might, but it's more of an alternative to Facebook. I didn't like putting pictures on Facebook of my kids and they get stolen or show up in a Google Search, so I tried it.
Meh. I simply don't post my kid's pictures anymore.
