It's funny when you can trace life-lessons back to odd source points.

I learned to figure out judicious shopping from Jughead in Archie comics: He has an ice cream cone and a root beer, and when he dumped the ice cream into the root beer and ate the cone by itself, Archie asked why, and he said something like "A root beer float costs 30 cents, but an ice cream cone is 15 and a root beer is 10, I save a nickel and also get a free cone".

So now, when I see a Coke Zero 20 pack at $7.49, but the 'buy 3' 12 packs at $3.33 each, it's easy to see that boiling the comparison down to 2 of the 12 packs, that I save 83 cents AND get 4 extra cokes.

Mundane, I know, but that's where that came from for me.
