I pulled 5 potatoes out of the garden at lunchtime today. Sliced em thin, coated em in olive oil and put a mix of spices on top. Broiled them So they were crisp like potato chips. Served then with a ham steak and some raw peppers for dinner.
I completely ran out of sugar but still needed to make something to use up the blueberries, so I made mini cobblers with honey.
Wow, this sounds great! How nice to have such fresh produce.Do you have a large garden?
Chanterelle Croustade with a creamy chanterelle soup. Comfort food fresh from the forest.![]()
My chicken and ric soup pales in comparison.
Yum! I'm jealous but happy for you!
I love mushrooms so much. Searching for them in the forest, eating them, learning to identify new ones... Although this year I haven't had so much time to go mushroom picking and I haven't learned a single new one.
What's your favorite mushroom?![]()
Mushrooms are fun to find! It's hard to pick a favourite because they're all so different. I love finding Blue Chantrelles. They're fairly rare here and the flavour is unlike anything else. Yellow and white chantrelles aren't hard to find. Sometimes I find pine mushrooms, morels, cauliflower mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, shrimp russala and lobster mushrooms. It's always fun finding new things.
I have cod. Should I grill it or fry it?

Quiche with sheep polypore, bell pepper and leek. .
We just discovered a single serving of a crescent dough sheet has less carbs than 2 slices of our normal sandwich bread.
Hooray! I made homemade "hot pockets" and satisfied the bread cravings for awhile.
I bet I could use it for faux Bierocs too.
