What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

Those are good ideas seela, especially since I have about 5 dozen more cookies to decorate and I'm already tired of it :rolleyes:

I hope the Bolognese sauce comes out ok. If it does come it too bright maybe you could add a bit more spice (I'm.thinking oregano) to tone down the fruit?
 
OMG! I'm on batch #4 of cranberry pecan biscotti. Everyone raves over and I love them but baking them to the proper toastiness is a life experience. Making the recipe is only 30 minutes with prep time but baking is a process that can run up to three hours!
Needless to say, I only do this once a year!
On the upside, I borrowed a neighbor's Kitchenaide mixer and I'm sold. And it just so happens, Jhereg asked what I wanted for Christmas only an hour ago. Guess what I asked for?

I tried a friend's pasta attachment, and decided not to buy it. The way it works, it's just too high (on a normal counter top). Very awkward, especially for someone with a bum wing.

BUT, I heartily recommend the food grinder and sausage stuffer attachments, plus the salad or whatever-it's-called attachment. It's not a food processor replacement, but it has its own charms. If you like cole slaw, it will repay you over and over again.

I'm not impressed by the pasta stuff, overall (I prefer a manual), the grain mill, or the ice cream maker. The rest of the attachments are awesome.

I'm especially happy with the food grinder. When my kids were little I made them a bunch of baby and toddler foods that I think were better than jarred foods simply because of the very simple ingredients (fruit or veg and nothing else). For kidlet foods, processing a bunch and freezing it into ice cubes is excellent.

I love the food grinder. I've made several of the KA recipes from the cookbook, and my favorite is the broccoli-cheddar bake (mostly broc, eggs, and cheddar). The slicer is my favorite way to make cole slaw and sauerkraut.
 
Thank you for that detailed review, desertslave! I been on the fence for several years as to whether or not I really needed a Kithenaide Mixer. It sounds like I do. :)

And a stick blender.

You can get away with a regular blender, but the stick works to puree in the pot and there's no risk of spilling. I love mine in the winter. Hearty thick soups from scratch are a breeze.

Oooohhh.. Amen to that one! And it sure beats having to ladle stuff into the blender batch by batch.

I dress them up as pies for the unwary :p
Then there's mock ants on a log for the old folks and the young'uns!
Mock dogs with ketchup and onions for the baseball fans.
Oooohhh, wait. The answer is no.
Son tamales, hombre, sí tienes hambre :D

I bought you the link to Amazon. Don't be greedy. Besides, you'd just use it to grind up 5,000 year old wood chips to make Hairloom Fat-Free Gluten-Free Paleo Oak Chip Cookies, and why would I want to be an accessory to that crime against humanity? :p
