Whats behind a cat call?

Objectification. And Italianate dipshittery.

That was an interesting read, and so were the linked articles about the "I have a boyfriend" line. I rolled my eyes a little bit at the comments - I think you're taking huge liberties if you label every form of cat-calling a predatory intimidation tactic.

I tend to write it off as harmless flirtation, and the really outrageous ones just make me laugh. I don't think you're playing into the patriarchy by lying about having a boyfriend to quickly and easily extricate yourself. Those are just my experiences, though. It was very interesting to read that those experiences seem quite different for women of color - it's not something I had really considered. Same with online dating (and surely online cat-calling is a thing), but in speaking to a few friends, it has become exceedingly obvious to me that my experiences are nowhere near universal.

I read nothing anymore.

I'm burning bridges, now.

But... I've understood all of your avatars until this one. What the hell is that about? Can you link someone up?

That sounds like fun. Bridges don't mean much when you're in a submarine, though.

It's Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey. My first brush with Shakespeare. I was so young and she was so beautiful.

False mustaches are the whole point of having long hair. Aside from pulling.

I've always considered it to be "What I think is so important that I get to say so loudly and obnoxiously and there's nothing you can do about it. I think something about your body and you must know what I think."

A woman can see it as being admired or as being objectified or being irrelevant as a brain on top of boobs. Some women feel bad if they don't get the catcalls, I know. So it means different things.

Realistically, some of the cat callers get lucky and get a phone number or a relief from whatever boredom they're experiencing.

It's been mostly harmless in my experience, but I usually just smile, wave, or keep walking, depending on the tone and content.

I prefer having an Irish sea shanty sung to me.

It happened, and I didn't feel objectified at all. I felt appreciated. And it took a little effort on his part.

I just asked Ulaven if he'd cat called someone and he just asked if strippers count. No, cat calling a stripper is a professional courtesy.

I think there's a type of guy that thinks that women want to feel hot and they can provide that service. The idea that not all women want to feel hot to them doesn't compute and mostly means "lesbian buzzkill"

I really think some guys do think that they are providing a service.

I don't get the motivation but I do want to beat them over the head with a sack'o'bricks. I hate them, the moronic apes.

yes, dear, my hatred of them is repressing their human rights.

You saying you wouldn't if you could?

I call bull fuckin' shit....you have openly let your misandry flag fly numerous times openly advocating shatting upon the rights of men, violence against men and double standards in favor of women.

I'm not saying you're not justified or you don't have your reasons, but you should at least own it....as a whole you don't like men one tiny fuckin' bit, you revel in the opportunity to be a spiteful bitch even if just in comment and get to play it off holier than all fuck feminist.

So go ahead and lie to me and say men wouldn't be treated as sub human on planet Dolf, lie and say you wouldn't step on the rights of any man to spare the feelings of women worldwide.
