"Gay cure" therapy institute shuts down, apologizes for hurting people

My take on it is that it was taken off the list of mental /psych disorders in the early 70s.

People still get treatment for it,as it causes stress,depression,not wanting to be gay/bi/les/trans,family disowning them,or being outed when they preferred staying closeted,etc.

Now the mental health community says if you need trtmt o k,but after 2 yrs,you should try to make the best of the situation.Get with the gay community,find others like at gay bookstores,bars,community centers in the large metro areas...

My dad said there were a lot of gay/bi /gay friendly congregations in Cal,with the ULCh,when I a got ministers certificate with the Universal Life Church in the early 80s.

Theres a underground best seller for the past 45 yrs called the Damron Traveller s Guide,probably a copy in most big city libraries.It lists maybe 10 000 places gays congregate ,in big cities accross N America.Theres a separate one for women.Or ,it could be ordered from Damron.com with the www in front of it...Cruise at your own risk,don t put it on me,its your life...

I think part of it is mainstream christian groups financially lend support to such places.
For those who are gblt ,use the search engine for such sites that interest you,including dating sites for such,to find others of who you re looking for.
My dad worked the phonelines part time in MIami back in the late 70s,call 411 for info on crisis and gay switchboards ph no in major metro areas in your area,for info.Maybe find a support or growth group. www.dailystrength.org has support groups of diverse kinds like anxiety ,depression,may be some for lgbt in there,check it out...

Theres a lot of free porn on the internet to self service to,use search engine for that too.like :free porn tube sites in search engine box...

Oh my gosh! No treatment for gays? How will the straight community survive? Now the gays will be coming after our children and pets.

I hope you know I'm being totally sarcastic.

I think you may have missed the point of the post. Some gay people know that their family or community may want to shun you. Some therapy to help you get through those issues is not a bad idea.

I think you missed the point of the thread. This isn't about therapy to help gay people live a more stress-free life with reduced depression. It is about groups that purport to be able to "cure" gays.
