They will take the stage Saturday at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, at 9 p.m ET. The debate will air on CBS and its radio affiliates, and also stream online at Newsweek.com. It is expected to last for about two hours.

The event is co-sponsored by CBS, Twitter and the Des Moines Register. The moderator, Face the Nation host John Dickerson, said he will cover a wide variety of topics but will focus heavily on the economy.

The tension mounts, how will the Dem's ever match the drama and derp we saw in the last Republican debate?

Which reminds me, I need to go to the liquor store.

Its over for the Democrats since Paris erupted. America gets how Hillary wont protect diplomats from Muslims, and know she wont protect average folks from imported Muslims. The ragheads elected Trump President yesterday.

Democratic debate to focus on foreign policy in wake of Paris attack

Let's see if that works out as well as another genius prediction:

Hillary wont survive the primaries, ditto Warren. This is 1972 again when McGovern championed the LEFT and had his ass handed to him after vicious primaries. Governor Moonbeam wants to run but he's as crippled as the others. The Democrats have one chance...the Senator from West Virginia. I'd vote for him.

Jeb is snake-bit with his Bush name, and he's Mudd with conservatives. Romney is a loser for all the obvious reasons. The rest are the 7 Dwarfs. Except Scott Walker. He's kicked liberal ass many times in a blue state.

Looks to me like SCOTT WALKER and the guy from West Virginia.

Bernie Sanders clearly doesn't want to talk about foreign policy. He'd much rather talk about domestic issues. This will not end well for him, people are focused on foreign policy today.

Why not call the Jihadists what the are, Crazy Bastards, ISIS is a gang not a government.

O'Malley is correct it does not call for the 3rd Marines invading anywhere. We do need a new approach, like not letting the CIA cabal intervene in shit.

Is this O'Malley's moment to shine?

He is making some good points, particularly about Trump. Can't wait hear what Donald has to say about it.

Because calling them what they are isn't PC.

There is nothing we can do where we aren't a bigger bad guy. Everything and anything we do will be wrong, so minimize expenditure.

We need to let EU deal with this...send them some MRE's and baindaids with a "Hang in there" card.

They are SO fucking superior to us dumb stupid redneck Americans in every way imaginable. At least that's what they have been off at the mouth with for the better part of 20 years now......let them deal with it, it's their problem anyhow.

The astonishing thing (if you've been watching the Pub debates for comparison) is how they're all acting like grownups.

But Obama didn't do that in Libya, when the French and Italians were all frizzy and cried for American help because the Surrender Monkeys had more aspirations than their military could handle.

Well, you sure called that wrong. This one was all solid real-world fact-based content on all sides, with the bullshit-content negligible and the craziness-content nonexistent. Perhaps you were thinking of a Republican debate?

The only thing O'Malley said tonight that anyone is going to remember is that last part where he admitted that being governor of Maryland isn't preparation for the White House. I don't want to be too tough on him because it's the truth, and it's true for everyone at this stage of a campaign, but it's not something you're ever supposed to say out loud.

Nothing really is preparation for the WH, there's no job like it in our system. But up to now it has been conventional wisdom that a state governorship or major-city mayoralty provides some relevant degree of executive experience. One stick used to beat Obama in 2008 was that his governmental experience was limited to the legislative side.

Can't say I remember that one. I recall lots of people saying that Obama had no experience whatsoever.

True, but I think his "Immigrant bashing Carnival Barker" line will be retweeted for weeks!

I actually LOL'd.

Oh I'm sure he'll use this to get as much war on as we can.

Martin O’Malley slams ‘carnival barker’ Donald Trump

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley directed his insults Saturday at the second Democratic debate not at a rival onstage but one in another party: Donald Trump. While speaking about immigration policy and advocating for a path to citizenship, O'Malley labeled the Republican front-runner and real estate tycoon a "carnival barker."

"You'll never hear this from that immigrant-bashing carnival barker Donald Trump," O'Malley said, his statement peppered with applause, "the truth of the matter is net immigration from Mexico was zero, go ahead, fact check me." O'Malley was referring to the number of immigrants arriving each year.

I missed the end. I was at a feel the bern debate watch function but split early. They were not happy that Bernie was being out tweeted at that time.

I missed the carnival barker statement. Thanks for the quote.

Not so much a moment to shine as a no holds barred last ditch effort.

It is still a long way to June, but he did need to come on strong and make his case. I think he'd make a great VP for Bernie and would be set up to carry on the fight in 2020 and 2024, assuming Bernie and he were successful in advancing the people's objectives.

Hillary Clinton called out during Democratic debate for vote on Iraq invasion

US. Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton came under early criticism in a debate on Saturday for her 2003 vote backing the U.S. invasion of Iraq, with Bernie Sanders linking it to regional chaos that aided the rise of Islamic State militants.

The day after a series of deadly bomb and gun attacks that killed at least 129 people in Paris, Sanders said the invasion was “one of the worst foreign policy blunders in the modern history of the United States.”

“I would argue that the disastrous invasion of Iraq, something that I strongly opposed, unraveled the region immensely,” said Sanders. He said it led to the rise of al Qaeda and the Islamic State.

Clinton, who has frequently said the vote was a mistake, said it should be placed in the historical context of years of terrorism before the invasion.

“If we’re ever going to really tackle the problems posed by Jihadi extremists, we need to understand it and realize that it has antecedents to what happened in Iraq,” she said.

She's right Regan started it by financing Bin Laden. She was only guilty of joining the mob because the polls said...

It is a long way to June, but I think even his campaign said it's do or die time. That is exactly what some of the people at my table were saying. They actually said O'Malley seemed like he was gunning for the VP slot.
