They will take the stage Saturday at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, at 9 p.m ET. The debate will air on CBS and its radio affiliates, and also stream online at Newsweek.com. It is expected to last for about two hours.

The event is co-sponsored by CBS, Twitter and the Des Moines Register. The moderator, Face the Nation host John Dickerson, said he will cover a wide variety of topics but will focus heavily on the economy.

The tension mounts, how will the Dem's ever match the drama and derp we saw in the last Republican debate?

The only thing O'Malley said tonight that anyone is going to remember is that last part where he admitted that being governor of Maryland isn't preparation for the White House. Nothing really is preparation for the WH, there's no job like it in our system. But up to now it has been conventional wisdom that a state governorship or major-city mayoralty provides some relevant degree of executive experience. One stick used to beat Obama in 2008 was that his governmental experience was limited to the legislative side.

While speaking about immigration policy and advocating for a path to citizenship, O'Malley labeled the Republican front-runner and real estate tycoon a "carnival barker."

O'Malley was referring to the number of immigrants arriving each year.

It is still a long way to June, but he did need to come on strong and make his case. I think he'd make a great VP for Bernie and would be set up to carry on the fight in 2020 and 2024, assuming Bernie and he were successful in advancing the people's objectives.

US. Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton came under early criticism in a debate on Saturday for her 2003 vote backing the U.S. invasion of Iraq, with Bernie Sanders linking it to regional chaos that aided the rise of Islamic State militants.

The day after a series of deadly bomb and gun attacks that killed at least 129 people in Paris, Sanders said the invasion was “one of the worst foreign policy blunders in the modern history of the United States.”

“I would argue that the disastrous invasion of Iraq, something that I strongly opposed, unraveled the region immensely,” said Sanders. He said it led to the rise of al Qaeda and the Islamic State.

Clinton, who has frequently said the vote was a mistake, said it should be placed in the historical context of years of terrorism before the invasion.

“If we’re ever going to really tackle the problems posed by Jihadi extremists, we need to understand it and realize that it has antecedents to what happened in Iraq,” she said.

It is a long way to June, but I think even his campaign said it's do or die time. That is exactly what some of the people at my table were saying. They actually said O'Malley seemed like he was gunning for the VP slot.
