What makes people respond to "pointless" threads?

Recently, several of my threads have been referred to as "pointless" or "extremely pointless". I recall that Lasher bestowed upon me some kind award, which I have yet to recieve, for "THE most pointless thread, ever".
And yet I continue to ask questions and you respond. I understand me. I just don't understand some of you. I come here for the ideas and the entertainment.

Special K said my thread about mayo was pointless. And yet he responded. He/she could just as easily ignored it. Well, if you thinkthat's pointless, wait until I really start probing into your collective thoughts with the eternal conundrum. Do you install toilet paper to unroll over or
under. I can already hear the groans!

Being bored? The fun of seeing where the thread might lead to (oral sex usually, especially if it is REALLY a dumb thread)?

As for toilet paper, I think anyone who owns cats will tell you the only way to hang it is so that it rolls from underneath. When the cat hits the toll, it will just keep spinning. If you hang it with the paper over the top, it will unwind when the cat plays with it. See- a helpful tip of the day. Never know what you may find in these threads.

Pointlessness is in the eye of the poster, or the postee. I think a lot of people post on "pointless" threads because sometimes something creative drops out of the ensuing discussion--and it doesn't always have anything to do with the original post! That's one of the neat things about this board. As far as Lasher's "award" I wouldn't worry too much over it. He has a deserved reputation of being an irrational smart-ass, as evidenced by recent threads.
