What made you smile or laugh today? Part IV

A sunny morning and some really excellent crossword action to start it with. Thank you NYT!

I also checked my current standing in the crossword league, and it looks like I’ve finally developed a brain after years of struggling! Woot! 🥳

So many ordinary people now gathering to say that, no, they don’t want a million dumpster fires spinning violently over their houses, in a 3,000-square-mile shitstorm.

I’ve heard this kind of disclaimer during three drug ad campaigns: “Don’t take [Drugbuyus] if you’re allergic to [Drugbuyus.]”

Long overdue night with friends last friday still has me smiling.

Also, saw a kid trying a too heavy bench press at the gym.
I was outside that room and only saw it through the glass wall, so I was scrambling to get there when this other kid noticed and helped him. He stuck around and made sure the kid was ok and tried to cheer him up when he noticed it was more of an injury to his pride.

It’s a long weekend here, Friday and Monday off. Thanks, Jesus!

I woke up at my usual workday time, though, but I can stay in bed and read which is nice and very smile-worthy. Birds are singing, too.

I got my hair cut on Wednesday and it feels so short (for me) now. Sometimes change is good and needed. It’s funny when I brush my hair how my hand keeps going even after the hair ends.

Later today, sauna and swimming in a lake that’s still partially frozen.

Lots to smile about, which is good, because there are also less than jolly conversations to be had this weekend.

I’m beyond happy and relieved that at least some of the uncomfortable conversations went really well. Mom is finally willing to have a check up, because her memory hasn’t been the greatest. It’s been an unpleasant uphill battle, and my sister has been dealing with the situation absolutely horribly. But I think me and my sister-in-law finally got through to her we had a really nice conversation.

I’ll go home tomorrow, that makes me smile and happy as well. I look forward to seeing J and the whole uncomplicatedness of us. There is nothing like spending time with family to make me appreciate what J and I have.

Watching my kiddo nap like he did when he was little. Completely sprawled out on his bed. Doesn't matter how big he gets it will always make me smile to see him napping and peaceful. I get what my grandma meant when she said they are always your baby.

Beautifully sunny weather! I went geocaching and found morels. I didn’t have anything to collect the mushrooms in, so I just collected them within my scarf. Worked well enough. So that’s what was for lunch today. 🤤

It was also nice to see students taking part in their pre May Day festivities. Some things never change.

-Having a really good hair day
-Buying a new dress and shoes
-Wearing lipstick
-Going to a couple board game stores and planning what to use my gift card on
-Seeing lots of pretty flowers and leaves starting to emerge in trees

It’s been an excellent day so far.

I did *so* well in the crossword league I participated in! I was in the top 25%, and I assume the overwhelming majority of other participants are native speakers whereas I am not. So yay! Wootwoot!

Another thing that made me smile is finally getting the green light to move forward with two separate work projects that have dragged on forever and have been in a weird limbo because of that.

And I saw a cute northern wheatear wagging its tail and hopping around.

Pretty good for an extremely tired Monday.

Another year of building board duties successfully dodged. I’ve gotten good at this! 😎

Being headbutted by our cat.
Aww, that made me smile as well.

I so want to be headbutted by a cat, too. I’m so close to getting a cat even though I know it’s not a good idea or fair to the cat.

I need to find a cat that I can be an aunt to.

First beer outdoors this year, running into old acquaintances, talking about some plans for the future.
