Every person or nearly every person acts on their own behalf to get what they want. Selfish, hell yes. They do not care about you or your feelings, they only care about themselves. They may sugar coat & sweeten things up but ultimately, it's all about them. period. boy what a rude awakening this was.

so as long as I keep this in mind, in every interaction with every person.. that they're self-serving, I'll never get hurt. I won't be getting into situations without that understanding. I'll see the interactions for what they are. I won't prejudge or expect or assume. I can remain objective just knowing this. I need not react. it's human nature to be self-serving.

Exactly, I think this is similar to my truth (not the Vicks one). My mom gets so mad when people are rude or unking, and she wonders why I don't, and I tell her that I expect it of them. That's their nature, and that getting mad isn't going to make them change, or be different. I guess when I become perfect, then I'll start preaching to people about it.

I don't mean to interrupt the topic but...
the only person that can/will change me is myself. there will sometimes be indirect, sometimes direct guidance that will direct these changes but the decision to change resides within me. always... no matter what age though we may be more influenced when we are 7 or younger.

I have caught up to the topic thread, and it has splintered, which happens, and is not a bad thing as long as the fundmentals are still there and the topic can be reclaimed.

In my life, I have always looked for diversity. It is the world, and as I told someone in a message just a few moments ago, without diversity, we would be a very sad species.

Rude, yes, uncalled for? Perhaps, but it does spark for an interesting debate.

I for one do not like to lump everyone into the same catagory, on being selfish. Yes, we as humans are selfish to out own needs, because usually, only we know what *we* want. As a sominant, I take it upon myself to try to know the needs of submissives to better serve me, and thus themselves.

Once we get past the truth of our own selfishness, which is not bad, depending upon the degree of it, we can as a species, become more than what we currently are.

What is your truth?

I may not have reached Guru status in avatar, but I have been on and off here long anough this past near decade to know its value. It has always been here, throughout my quest for pleasure, for my own truth.

I can remember some of those most hallowed here from the days UIN .. and other highly listed beginner groupies .. those such as Sir Roscoe, though never myself his puppet. I have enjoyed many regulars banter throughout my decade of discovery.

I hold all who post here as respected, and love knowing that if seen in the local grocery we would likely never know the other, for we all are just so the norm now. This is the hard truth.
