I voted "Depends" because I'm always a fence-sitter that way.

At the moment, it's beer and Smirnoff Ice. Leftovers from my hubby's retirement party. Someone's gotta drink 'em!

if ya know where to lok, you can. ;-)

Beer or mixed drinks (crown royale and anything works well, I find it mixes better with dr. pepper or even 7-up than coke or ginger ale though)

cocktails.
a few shots / purist on the rocks every now and then very rare though.

I dont like beer. ale. etc...

I prefer not to use alcohol internally. It's poison ya know.

Wheres the girly drinks? :(

Other than that - vodka mixed with something to make it taste not so much like alcohol.

Fav cocktail- cosmopolitan made with citron vodka.(girlie enough?)
Fav beer- Coopers pale ale. I have a carton in the pantry and a few cold in the fridge all the time. Casual guzzling- carlton midstrength.
Fav wine - red, preferably cabernet sauvignon, or merlot, even shiraz if I am not feeling too fussy.
Fav party drink- bourbon. Goes down real easy, guys are always willing to share, :D , and it tastes like friday nights.
Fav serious contemplative drinking with good company- single malt scotch on ice.
and guilty of all 5 in the last 2 weeks.
The liver is evil and must be punished!

I have a few favorites: mimosa, manhattan (with an extra cherry of course), tequila, sangria, guinness beer.

I also like sambucca, grappa or grand marnier after dinner.

I don't drink. I like to eat my calories instead of drinking them. :)

It's been years and years since I've had a drink.

Wine, especially red wine. I like the way it looks in the glass, I like the way it smells, and I like the taste of it, the way it makes the sides of my tongue ache slightly. Plus it's awesome with smoked gouda.

the best alcohol i ever had is tuica and palinca bought in small romanian villages (for example in maramures or in transylvania), it is home destilled fruit liqueur, as far as i know palinca is the stronger one, distilled many times... they also have it in hungary but it seems to be harder there to get people to sell it to you. ah, home made rakiija in bulgaria is also nice.

as for things to buy in a store, i really like sambuca, also like turkish raki and similar drinks though sambuca is my favourite out of them...

ed...

scotch... rocks w/a splash of h2o.

when i have a beer, i try to get a locally brewed product called dog fish head... excellent stuff.

I votes WTF simply becaus I don't drink alcohol, but I don't consider myself a teetotaler. If I wasn't on medicaltion I'd drink occasionally:

Frangelico
Baileys
Strawberry daiquiri
and
Sangria punch

*now lets see if I can remember the recipe to that...*
1 gallon rose' wine
1 bottle Triple Sec
1 bottle Everclear (190 proof)
2 - 2 liter bottles of Sprite
Several lemons, limes and oranges sliced and tossed in peel and all.

Mix it all together. Let the fruit steep for a couple of hours before serving.

*note - the first time I had Sangria Punch, I drank *several* glasses without feeling or tasting the alcohol. About 15 minutes later it hit me like a gold brick wrapped in a pillow case. And no hangover as the effects wore off in the following days. :rose:

In order of preference:

Baileys and hot chocolate
Baileys on ice (Bushmills is acceptable substitute as well)
Chocolate Martini
Wine (a good reisling or the occasional merlot)
Mead (WTF? yeah...it's a history thing)
Alcohol Slushies (includes daquiries, mai tai, etc)

Outside of that, I'm pretty flexible...but I have yet to find a beer that I actually enjoy drinking.

revolution: wine & cheese...mm...

EJ: i've had dogfish head. it ain't my favorite but my tastes in beer are weird. see if you can find something by another jersey brewery, jersey devil IIRC. they do some really nice stuff.

oxphocker: i used to feel the way you do about beer until i tried a hefeweizen in a local microbrewery. light, crisp and refreshing, with notes of banana and clove. you might wanna consider picking up a lambic, which--as weird as it sounds--is sorta like beer and wine. i recommend the flavored versions. i share your fondness for riesling, esp w/ the weather like it is of late.

me personally, i'm more a wine guy, preferring lighter reds such as beaujolais (specifically, the moulin a vent style) or margaux (when i can justify the expense). whites such as riesling are great for hot weather.

but the king of all cocktails IMHO is the long island iced tea. the mrs is a former bartender. :D i'm also partial to a drink of AFAICT my own invention: citrus-flavored vodka tonics with a splash of sour mix. garinshed w/ a slice of lime, it's a nice warm weather drink.

sangria's always nice. it's fun coming up w/ new fruit to add to it. i find starfruit and kiwi are generally nice additions.
