Have to be :

*Master home with me and safe again;
*my daughter and granddaughter sharing Christmas dinner with us instead of sweating it out in Oz;
*and answers to the couple of questions I can't get out of my head but know are likely to remain unanswered.

Bah humbug.

I don't really like holidays, cause I just live with my dad, and extended family is too far away to visit. So yeah. Holidays are pretty boring around here, since it's just me and him, and we see each other all the time otherwise, but we don't really have very much to say to each other. But when we do, we have time for conversation =)

My favorite Holiday Desert is Pumpkin Pie.
Holiday Tradition? I don't have one :( Maybe taking a nap with the kitty?
Holiday Song : Jingle Bell Rock
Holiday Dinner : Hamburgers on Thanksgiving :D It feels so good not to conform :D :p

And three things for Xmas that would make me happy?

1) Going to see Wicked on Broadway, with Idina there :D
2) Feeling loved by my mother and having an actual mother.
3) Having my cat turn into a person =)

My favorite:

1. Holiday tradition - the Christmas Eve candlelight service in the church where I grew up

2. Holiday dinner- Turkey etc

3. Holiday song- The Holly and the Ivy

and

4. Holiday dessert - home made Coconut Cake

KC, what is your favorite holiday cartoon?

Mine is the Grinch that Stole Christmas. I'm fond of Max the dog.

duh...i forgot to post mine lol
1. Preparations for christmas day done the day before...cooking with my father especially.
2. Lasagna and anything and everything that goes with it...i dont get a choice always has been and always will be that on christmas.
3. I have two one is "Joy to the world" and the other is "grandma got run over by a reindeer" lol
4. Strufolli
5. The grinch and The lil drummer boy.
6. Those little felt elves you can hang on the tree or all over your house....yep they go all over my house, and angels.

The three things i would pick for gifts would not be material things, they are three things lacking in my life that i prefer to keep private...but if i get em i will let ya all know :)

And I know whose yard that'll be in. :D

I forgot the 3 gifts

1. A place of my own. (actually, this will probably happen after Christmas)

2. Surround myself with friends and loved ones on a regular basis.

3. A spanking... actually, I want more than that, but what's a girl to do? LOL

Hey Nav, I don't think I have enough mingos to go with the sleigh. ;) Besides, it wouldn't be Christmas at Lit if I didn't post pics of flamingos dressed in holiday finery.

1. Door-to-door Christmas carolling. I love the randomness, the lack of normal yearly inhibition, the music, the "together."
2. Anything with nog.
3. "Silent Night" always makes me cry when we're holding candles. Other than that, I love listening to or singing "Gesu Bambino" and "O Holy Night." Not much for the jingles...just an aesthetic thing.
4. Nog. I'm easy.
5. Charlie Brown...just for the Snoopy Dance, really. Well, and the songs.
6. The tree, especially if it's real pine. The first time we light it up and everyone is standing or sitting around together and peace just settles over the room and it feels like home....that's Christmas.

The main one is being with my family. I miss them immeasurably. Other than that, if we're being implausible, a car and a scholarship back into college. :D For having made a 3 page Christmas suggestion list for T, I sure don't feel like I have a lot of material desires. All kind of pales in comparison, ya know?

1. saving cats from the tree
2. this one middle eastern place, owned by Palestinians, crowded with Palestinians, Yemenis, Iraquis and Jews every 25th. Peace on Earth.
3.The coventry carol. Creepy yet makes me weepy.
4. Candy canes
5. Olive the other Reindeer
3. whatever the cats don't choke on

1. My slave with us after new year's.
2. Fuck all this immaterial bullshit - I want latex catsuits for M and me with 3 way zips so we can do the rubbery nasty
3. uneventful safe flights to/from the east coast all year

If you could pick three things to get for christmas that would make you happy and you really, really want, what would they be?

1. Xmas eve at my family's house.

2. We don;t really have xmas dinner, so it really doesn't apply.

3. ewwwwww....typically i dislike xmas music cuz you hear the same 5 songs over and over and over and over again.

4. oooohh...that's a hard one. My mom's choclate cookies. and the buckeyes...yum!

5. Rudoplh!! No doubt there.

6. A live xmas tree decorated in white lights....i dislike the colored lights on real xmas trees.

1. Tradition - giving my children pj's and a new book on christmas eve
2. Dinner - not sure about this one ... used to be my grandmother's beef and gravy, but we don't visit her anymore
3. Song - Angels We Have Heard on High; The First Noel
4. Dessert - chocolate chip cookies straight out of the oven
5. Cartoon - Twas the Night Before Christmas (love those mice!)
6. Decoration - My tree covered in beautiful lights

KC, can i add another one???
7. Movie - It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol (with George C. Scott)

And 3 things i'd like to get for Christmas:
1. To wake up at Daddy's side
2. To spend the entire day with Daddy
3. Happily ever after with Daddy and my children (working on it!)

Movie....that would be a toss-up between A Christmas Story and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

If you could pick three things to get for christmas that would make you happy and you really, really want, what would they be?

1. Cornish hens for dinner on Christmas Eve.
2. I looove turkey. ;) And stuffing. And biscuits. (I'm a healthy eater.)
3. What Child Is This? and The Restroom Door Said Gentlemen. :D Hey, it's funny!
4. French silk pie.
5. Uh. I like that Rudolph one, but it's not a cartoon. Charlie Brown Christmas, I guess.
6. Evergreen wreaths and real christmas trees. I love the smell.

3 things: New leather English riding boots, the new puppy that I'm not getting till January unfortunately, and being all moved in to the new house.. it's so close to being done that it's making me crazy having to wait.

1. Holiday tradition: After dinner the extended family gets together at my aunt's house. We eat some more, we laugh some more, we fight some more. And usually the men are in the dining room drinking and the women are around the kitchen eating desserts and having 5 conversations at once.
2. Holiday dinner: Pasta of course
3. Holiday song: Not a holiday song but I love Ave Maria
4. Holiday dessert: Cheesecake
5. Holiday cartoon: How the Grinch Stole Christmas
and
6. Holiday decoration: I love driving in various neighbourhoods and look at other peoples decorations (the only time of the year where it is legal to "lurk" and be a "peeping tom").

If you could pick three things to get for christmas that would make you happy and you really, really want, what would they be?
1. Someone to love
2. Someone I love to kiss on New's Years Eve
3. Having this someone all year to wake up next to.

Ok, mine:

1. Holiday tradition- Sort of a new tradtion in our home is that I make a big, decidedly unhealthy breakfast after the presents are opened. Then we all sleep it off before going to the in-laws.

2. Holiday dinner- mom usually makes some beef roast with yorkshire pudding (yum).

3. Holiday song- I like a lot of church hymns actually, mostly because hubby and I like to trade off picking out the harmonies and singing the descants. Other then that, "I'll be home for Christmas."
4. Holiday dessert- Mom's shortbread cookies
5. Holiday cartoon - Merry Christmas Charlie Brown!
and
6. Holiday decoration - I like those single white candles people put in their windows.
7. Movie - A Christmas Story (You'll shoot your eye out, kid).

If you could pick three things to get for christmas that would make you happy and you really, really want, what would they be?

1. This comes as a surprise to no one, I'm sure, but I want to be able to stay home with my kids for another year.
2. I want to be a better mother.
3. I don't know that it will make me happier, but I want hubby to stick with the therapy, and just see where it takes us.

I'm not a big fan of christmas. I find that it brings out the worst in people. But my idea of the perfect christmas would be:

A quiet, cozy dinner with K and the kids. Read the bible, sing some hymns (Silent Night is my fave), open one present each. Put the kids to bed, do the Santa thing, and go to bed to wait for when the kids get to see their presents. Have a nice present opening thing with the kids in the morning, make french toast for everyone, and then . . . relax. Let the kids play with their new toys, maybe take a nap.
