If you had to write a blurb to promote and market one of your stories, what would it look like.

While most frequently associated with the back cover content for a book, a good blurb is also important for any type of publication if you hope to draw readers' attention to it. There isn't a convenient process here on Literotica to promote stories as there are on other sites, so I thought that I would start a thread here to allow my fellow writers to showcase their blurb(s).

Let's try to keep the blurbs limited to stories that are published here and include a link to the story in the event that your blurb does entice someone to check it out.

“Irresistible hook” is in the eye of the beholder, so I can’t really do much about that if it’s not working.

For #5, I’m an accomplished erotic fantasy author. Do you need more credentials than that?

I agree these pointers, but found yours far too long. I quickly scanned, but didn't read, because it was far too long a block of text for me. I still don't know what the story is about. It's got a Kathryn, but I had to scroll up to check the spelling.

It's an interesting discussion. I know when I'm browsing a book shop, a precis like that would get put back on the shelf in an instant, because I want a hook, not the whole story. Less is definitely more, for me.

Edit: to put my money where my mouth is, I went to find my own back cover blurb, for something I put on the market a few years ago:

At between 250 and 500 words, my blurb at 454 words is within the acceptable range for publication purposes, but I agree that it could be more succinct.
