hi i'll be the nerd here and tell you what i learned on a discovery channel thing on sex.

penises are shaped that way-- with a ridged head-- for competition reasons. say, a female has sex with one male and he cums in her. then she goes and has sex with another male. the ridged head of the penis will go in the female, the 1st male's semen will pool around the ridge, and be removed each time he pulls out. then that 2nd male cums and a lil while later there are a bunch of 2nd male progeny.
i think there was some sort of correlation with promiscuity and the evolution of the ridged penis.
