What is the protocol on duplicating AVs?

What I mean is what do you do (if anything) if someone else starts to use the same AV that you are using? About a week ago someone started to use the same AV I have been using for quite a while. I sent him a PM and pointed out our duplication. He was a gentleman and immediately changed his to something else. I now have found another has switched to the same AV I am using. (BTW both have/had just started using the AV I use.) I started to PM this second person when I realized that I have no patent or ownership of the AV. Can someone tell me what the custom is about using an AV someone is currently using. I know there is a finite number of AVs. I also know that most Avs (including mine) are public domain. I would just like to know what the board conventions are in this matter. Thanks!

Unless it 's a picture of you, your family, or something that you created, you have no rights to tell someone else they can't use it.

That's just my opinon though.

PZ, it looks to me like you are using thesandman's avatar. I've seen it before.

I think the proper thing to do is ask. If you find out it's a duplicate then an attempt to contact the original user is a nice thing to do. I had something like that happen to me, and it all worked out fine. I made a decision to change the avatar but I grew friendly with the person who had found it before me.

There is a lot of art available on the internet. Duplication is sometimes impossible to avoid. A little diplomacy goes a long way.

Hypertitty Tooty Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is an application layer protocol that it used to transfer HTML (Hypertitty Tooty Masturbation Language) documents across a network. When you look at a web page you are using HTTP.

HTTP relies on TCP (Titty Cooter Protocol) for transport layer services and is therefore reliable and connection-oriented.

TCP then uses IP (Intercourse Protocol) for Network Layer addressing. The IP packet is dressed up in panties and this is given to your particular network interface device to be framed and encoded and sent across the network medium.

It's how the Information Supersewage Works.
