Long-time Lit reader, newbie on the Board here.

Help me out: What does BTB (story) mean? I keep coming across it in the Loving Wives category.

Many thanks!!!!

What TP said.

Loving Wives is Literotica's weirdest and most contentious story category.

On the main story page, the category is described this way: "Married extra-marital fun: swinging, sharing & more."

Seems clear, right? Well, not so much.

The category encompasses two diametrically opposed types of stories: one, where wives have sex outside marriage and everybody has a good time. Two, where wives cheat and the husbands get revenge on them. Those are the "BTB" stories.

Over the years, the readership for the second type of story seems to have grown, and those readers are extraordinarily intolerant of the first type of story, to the point that they will routinely give "1s" to any author who writes such stories. These readers make up the BTB crowd. As a result of these readers, Loving Wives stories have by far the the lowest average score of any category at Literotica, and Loving Wives stories draw by far the most venomous comments of any story category.

"BTB", eh? Whelp, I've never written a LW story, and now I never will. In fact this thread has put me off posting any more stories on this site!

Why would it put you off?

All you have to do is avoid the category and don't engage with its reader cohort. Many writers do that. I can't see what it's existence and dynamic have to do with anything else on the site.

There are supposedly millions of Lit readers; judging the entire site by the (admittedly distasteful) actions of a few knuckle-draggers is probably excessive. There are some very good yarns in there. It’s like graffiti - don’t let it ruin the view.

I think NoJo will be OK. He visited AMD's review thread, and his attitude seemed to have been fixed just a half hour after saying that he might not publish here again.

torture porn for women hating incels written by women hating authors in which women are raped abused and tortured for the amusement of low life 'men'.

Let me know if I'm being too subtle and I'll be more blunt.

Good God, man. Just tell us how you feel.

There is another type of story involving a cheating wife... RAAC = Reconciliation at all costs. The husband or wife find their spouse is cheating and decide that they care about each other too much to divorce, plus there may be children involved, etc.

Don’t hold back. Be honest with us. 😂

I could use some clarification. Specific is terrific!

Quite right! I'd forgotten that. There aren't quite as many of those stories, but there are plenty of them and they make up a completely separate subgenre with a separate appeal.

The BTB crowd hates these stories as well, because they insist that the man should get revenge on the cheating wife, not reconcile with her.

The popularity of these stories, along with the BTB stories, at Literotica has always intrigued me because there's nothing erotic about them. The BTB stories are basically revenge tales, and the RAAC stories are somber dramas.

I had an idea for a story where the wife finds out the husband is cheating, corrals the mistress, and asks her "what do you give him that I'm not/I can't," and then the wife and husband reconcile. Would that count as an LW story, and would that get me burned?

Yes, that is a Loving Wives story, and yes, some of the LW readers will bomb your story and probably make nasty comments.

On the other side, you'll have a bigger audience of appreciative readers at Loving Wives than anywhere else.

So, it presents you with the choice of publishing in LW, the best fit for the story, where you'll get the biggest audience, but will probably have a lower score, or publishing elsewhere, where you may avoid the venom but will have fewer readers.

Yes and yes, as Simon has noted.

On the other hand, every good romantic road has some bumps in it and there's nothing to stop you, if it's written properly, to publish it in Romance.

I'm so fucking mercurial

And the same crowds mentioned demand RAAC if it's the husband caught cheating. Burn the Bastard seems to be followed by a very few readers. I have written all types of loving wives stories and most are well received in all four sectors, yet those from anther crowd will always down vote the ones they don't agree with.

And yes, PoisonPen33 that would be an LW story and a very interesting one to read and even write. If you don't want to write it, you should go over to the Story Ideas forum and post it there as an Idea. I might even take that up myself, if I wasn't in a slump right now. Too many stories to finish and too much going on in RL. Oy Vey.

My versions where the wife and mistress get together and wear him out.... then look for assistance when he doesn’t keep up.. ...

Massage shops in OZ advertize BTB but it means "Body to Body". It means that 'this is not really a massage shop.' :)

We mostly post in LW. You need think skin, but there are more readers in that category. Our LW stories get three times the readers than our Romance or E&V stories - and ten times the comments.
