I'm pretty much unhooked from current reality and thought so I mostly exploit 1970-2005, after minicomputers but before smartphones. Some stories are timeless or primitive; some are definitely 1450 or 1890 or 1940; some just suggest a period and region. Each space-time node wears its own attitudes and limitations... which we can squeeze for drama and twist for effect. A story of 1925 Hollywood demands certain flavors. When I started reading stories on Literotica there weren't too many that were set in the past, and many that I did find I wasn't keen on.
So I started writing my own stories set in the past, and while some of my stories are set in the present day most of them are set years earlier - the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.
Meanwhile, starting to write pr0n was easy, but restarting is hard. Dang.
