Why did you start writing Erotica?

I will start.

A few years ago I retired. I won't go into specifics, but I didn't want to retire. Anyway, being home, bored and with an imagination, I decided that I wanted to write. For years I had these characters in my head that I wanted to finally put down into their own stories. I never got around to that. As I started to write, my stories started to get boring. In order to spice them up, I decided to add in a few sex scenes here and there. Before I knew it I was trashing those stories and writing erotica, and enjoying it. I will never claim to be great at it. My followers and those that provide good feedback keep me going.

I found that people enjoy incest stories, so that is what I have been writing. I am currently trying to get a story going that I hope will span multiple chapters and keep people glued to their seats.

Let us know how you got into writing erotica. Don't be shy.

Back in the 90s with AOL disks and chat rooms, I discovered the Internet was like the Wild West. Women loved the anonymity and were sharing wild true stories with me. One girl sent a sexy pic and we had some erotic chats. I wrote a medical fetish story for her that she was amazed by. As usual, women would be bold at first, then get cold feet, then disappear
That story was probably on Yahoo Groups and I can retrieve it if I pay for it.

Four or five years ago, I had a coworker that transitioned MTF. I witnessed the difference it made in her life and realized we had a great deal of common ground. We were never close, but rather casual 'work' friends who chatted in the break room and had lunch once or twice. It was there that I pestered her with probably insufferable questions. To her good grades, she indulged me and led me to a much greater understanding of myself.

I caught myself wondering one day, what if it weren't a choice as it had been for her? What if it was forced on someone by fate or some accident? How would that turn out?

I explored that in The Beast and The Butterfly.

It wasn't the first story I published, but it was the first I tried to write. From there, it's been a continuous journey of self exploration and transcribing ideas the muses just won't let me put down.

I guess we'll all see where it goes from here.

EDIT: My high school senior year English teacher told me I should write all those years ago. I think she'd be proud that I was finally doing it. Not so sure what she'd think of the content, though. :)

An interesting query, @LonRivers ! A couple of inputs were my inspiration.

First, I couldn’t find (or rarely found) the kind of stories that gave a voice and storyline, in kind of voice that I wanted to hear it, to the fantasies and scenarios in my mind. So I began writing them myself!

Then, when a friend and I became—shall we say—heavily flirtatious, I began writing a yarn that gave space on the page (or screen) for something that couldn’t unfold in real life. That’s what gave my writing velocity for a period of time.

I've always written. I wrote super derivative fantasy stories when I was a kid - basically Tolkien plus some element lifted from whatever movie or book I was into at the time. And I've always read a lot.

Still, when I discovered the wonderful world of internet porn, for a long time it didn't occur to me to seek out the written variety, even though I always felt something was lacking from the images and videos I found. I imagined my own stories into them, but that was only so effective. But I did need some kind of story, even if it was only in my mind. And, probably needless to say, the movies that tried to include story were almost always terrible.

Discovering this site was exciting. I don't remember exactly when it happened - long before I started posting stories or even created an account. But it was a game changer in terms of my porn consumption. Just like the book is almost always better than the movie, the well done erotic story is almost always better than whatever you can find on youporn or pornhub or whatever.

From there it was about the same trajectory that got me writing as a kid. It took longer than it probably should have. I enjoyed many of the stories I read, some I didn't, often I scrolled around and played with tags and kept looking for one that was just right for what I wanted to imagine. And then it hit me: Oh, I can just write it. And so I did. And here I am.

I enjoy writing in general. Erotica is just a lot of fun. I don't get aroused writing my own material, but I do if I read something from another author. I guess it is kind of like cooking. You don't always like your own cooking as much as someone else's.

Me too.

I was writing it for someone originally, just one of my friends I had a crush on at the time, kinda trying to seduce her... Now, I'm kinda still doing that, but much more indirectly and for different people.

I've always enjoyed writing and reading, ever since I was a kid. I wrote quite a few creative writing assignments in school, and they were usually well received. But I gave up writing any fiction after the age of 18 until I was in my early 50s. In the time between I wrote voluminously for my profession, but not fiction. I kept abreast of writing basics and mechanics, but didn't do anything creative.

By the late 1990s I started reading online erotic fiction, and I discovered Literotica sometime around 2001 or something. I was an avid reader of erotica and kept telling myself, "I can do that!"

Finally, in 2016, I did. I started publishing here and I haven't stopped.

You should check out the movie 'The Assignment' with Michelle Rodriguez. She plays a Hitman that get's a forced gender reassignment surgery and then goes out for revenge. It was pretty good.

I have only been here just under a year and I love it.

I've seen that and enjoyed it. Was surprised to see Sigourney Weaver in it, TBH. Frank's revenge was exquisitely appropriate.

That's interesting. I wonder where the average Lit author falls in that regard. My own writing does arouse me, which is more or less the point for me - though not the only one.

I am a big fan of both actresses. I love Sigourney Weaver. She is my ultimate tough lady. <3

Something that strikes me as a little odd is that, at least so far, I haven't written anything OTHER than erotica. I have very wide-ranging literary interests, but for whatever reason I've only published erotica. I hope to change that. I'm working (slowly) on some non-erotic stories and some movie screenplays, and we'll see how that goes.

I am trying to write my story now that is more action and story with some erotica thrown in.

During college I played a lot of DnD and other tabletop games, but couldn't find another decent gaming group after graduation. So I tried to find forums/online communities to play, and some of those had erotic roleplay sub-forums. I was intrigued by that and dabbled a little with it, but found that solo writing was easier and more gratifying, and searches for erotic fantasy writing led me here.

I find that my writing does sort of reflect the way that I stumbled into this, as some of my stories are in the vein of something that might have been played out via TTRPG, just with a lot more sex thrown in.

I'm delighted that you posted this question. I'd love to hear if anyone has heard of an experience similar to mine. In three years I haven't found any. Lemme know if you have!

Here is my story as described in the Afterword to Twelve Maxbridge Street, written in early 2021.

I'm a 76 year old happily married heterosexual woman with two grown children and four incredible grandchildren. My fantasy life has always centered around masochism, but I had never taken the male point of view with the exception of a short period in elementary school when I was on a Robin Hood kick. I've never attempted, nor felt the desire to act out my fantasies with other real human beings.

At my age my fantasies had gotten less frequent, understandably. But in the week before Christmas of 2020 and into the first week of 2021 my consciousness, day and night was suddenly flooded with the story you've just read. I would experience strong erotic spasms like John Faranger does. This was a dramatic first for me in regards to the intensity, the constancy and the duration of the fantasy. I refined the details until I began to entertain the idea of writing it down. I took a lot of pleasure in the pure writing aspect of it. And I still do. I tweak it from time to time and am preparing to issue a new revision as soon as I get this Afterword tidied up. So if you are inclined to re-read it, please download a new copy.

It took some time to get over the hump of writing and publishing it with absolutely no chance of being discovered, even if I suddenly died. But I did get over the hump. Learning that I could publish an ebook very easily and "sell" it for free was a big deal. (I can't afford to receive 1099s, no matter how small.)

One question I have for you, my readers, is has anything like this ever happened to you? Both the suddenness and the male perspective? Please answer in a review or e-mail.

P.S. to the post here in Lliterotica AH.

To elaborate on "erotic spasms like John Faranger does" for those of you not inclined to read the story. These spasms were in the large muscles of my thighs and abdomen. The genitals were not involved, but they were distinctly erotic. I was advised online that it was probably a hormonal storm and I should consult my PCP. I did, but they had faded. I'm now pretty sure what I was experiencing was the same as a prostate orgasm, due, probably, to an age related breakdown in the hormone balancing mechanisms. Over the last three years I experienced several more such events, although never as intense, and they all resulted in my recording and publishing the associated fantasies. I regard this phenomenon as a gift, as I had had a pretty low libido my whole adult life.

Me too, except that I'm not impelled to write more than I've already done.

I used to play D&D, and did so for over 20 years. I loved it, but the group that I was playing with kept canceling on us and eventually we stopped. They keep asking me to start again, but I don't care to. I have moved on from it. That and I don't have time to.
