What good are ignore lists?

I know this thread should be in the General Board forum but the trolls there would have a field day with it and preclude any definitive answers.

I don't have any on my list but Sandra has over thirty. Seems guys send cold PMs like: "Your username intrigues me. I'm 27 and have an 8" cock. Wanna chat?"

So, anyway, we did an experiment today. She put my username on her ignore list (no wisecracks, I know all women have an ignore-switch in their head they flip as it suits them). Anyway, then I sent a PM. We expected a rejection or some system response so the sender knows the futility of future PMs. Nope, the message went into the big spam bucket in the ether-world. She didn't get it; as the sender, I didn't know. Other forum sites (well, one I know) tells the sender that the message can't be delivered. And a long time ago (mid-90s) I was on a sports related forum where users on your ignore list could not post on any thread you started (I liked that).

What good are the lists then? I know PennLady said why bother, they never send a second PM if the first gets no response. I'm not so sure.

Ignore lists mean that you don't see any threads started by someone on your ignore list.

That can have a wonderful effect on the GB. It becomes almost sane.

Posts made by people on your ignore list say they posted and nothing else.

Stella has a plugin for Firefox in her sig line that is even more selective and works with pictures and other stuff.

From my other half's experience, the guys sending the cock shots or clever messages like "does daddy's bad girl need a spanking?" won;t send a second if there is no response for the first.

The only way to avoid that is to disable Pm's, but then you miss any messages from people on the forum you may want to hear from. If her real problem is the pervs the best bet is just delete any unwarranted pm from someone she doesn't know.

There is a bit more than what ogg said. I only have one person on my ignore list and I don't see anything he posts. It does show he posted but nothing more than that.

As for the PMs as long as she doesn't even see it who cares how many PMs the ass hat sends? Kind of a no harm on foul situation it seems to me. (shrug)

They stop filling up your inbox with stuff. I have had guys try and send me endless photo links and stories, after a few unrequested stories I put them on ignore.

For me, I don't see PM's and I don't see thread titles. Cleans things up quite a bit. Also, since I find it nearly impossible to not read something when it's there, it spares me scanning everyone's stuff once I've already determined I don't want to read what someone writes enough to put them on ignore.

I have a pretty substantial ignore list that I've accumulated over the years and most times "view post" shows why.

The best reply I've heard of on an 8 inch cock PM, it was sent by a woman I used to co-write with.

Dear sir,

My wife is busy at the moment sucking my 12 inch cock and she has the neighbors 10 inch cock up her ass.

I'll let her know you posted but i don't think she will be interested.

:D

You'd think that works, but in some cases, it absolutely doesn't and the next PM is "Pics, please?"

There are some people it is impossible to shake off politely. Going to impolite means only reveals the person is seeking a domme.

We know the effects of the ignore list on our viewing (just a post placeholder on other threads, whole threads started by the ignored one completely unseen, and no nuisance PMs in my inbox) but we were surprised (and disappointed) to learn the ignoree has no clue. There would be some satisfaction to knowing they get a "Return-to-sender" message.

Better than that is "Look man, I'm a guy okay? This is a female pen name.

Then send them a cock pic back.

Of course, some of them might not believe that. Sadly I think there are more than a few "women" on the personals that are really men.

And I don;t care what they say, they cannot tell if they're sexing up a woman or not.

Confession time: Under my wife's ID I IM'd an entire brother sister role play as the little sister and the guy kept raving about how amazing I was.

after begging and begging for a pic I sent him .......

A shot of the wife's cleavage in a corset, I didn't have the heart.

This is worthy of saying...you are someone's hero.

Probably for the best. I'd think a RTS would be more likely to provoke stupid reactions (set up a second account to harass the blocker, etc).

A second account can't harass with a single PM or post because that's all they get before also being ignored. Also, why would they harass me? My profile says I don't chat. They send a chat request anyway so I put them on ignore. They don't know I'm ignoring them unless they try again. That would piss them off enough to get nasty?

Most of the cold PMers have no posts or stories. They are just fishing for female contact and probably send PMs to hundreds hoping for one hit. I've had 3 PMers create a user and the first thing they do is send me a PM, "Hi." Really? (Someone creating an alt to protect their regular user name?) I know this cause I check the profile and see it was created the same day.

I know some are fishing very aggressively. I created my own profile in April but didn't make a post until July. In between, I received two PMs, "Hi! I see you're on line now. Do you want to chat?" No posts by me so they could only detect my existence by patrolling the Users On Line list.

You could just use the invisible mode option.

I could mention how it kinda sucks I don't get those but actually it's the exact opposite. I'm jumping for joy over here. :D

I don't get those PM's anymore, might end up getting one now but simple thing to delete, I actually read the things but lord. You would think people on a story site, pornish or not would at least know how to type.

I've gotten them before, all text speech, been there. Had one that was all capitalized. I think the one I actually liked, didn't reply but it was nice, was one saying how my stories got him so hot and he wants me to help him get off.

Course I didn't beleive him, I mean if it's that hot why the hell didn't he get off already?

Anyway, the ignore function is only there so you can ignore the really truly stupid ones that don't amuse you on the forums. I don't actually have that big a list because I go to the GB to laugh. Don't often post in there but I go semi often just to get a good giggle at least. ;)

Every so often I get one of those PMs. I just delete it. I don't add those names to my ignore list b/c I never see them posting on threads. I've never had a problem after that initial deletion.
