Thinking about a man coming on my face. I wanted to know what it felt like. I really didn't think it was a big deal. But it seemed to make him happy.
 
That's a tough one, man. You don't want anyone fucking around with your back unless it's absolutely necessary. I don't have a chronic problem, but I just pop a bunch of Ibuprofen to fight inflammation. Unless you've done major damage to yourself, inflammation of joints is the major enemy you face going forward. And keep working the abdominal muscles if you can. That also relieves back pain. Take care.

The pain is when I sit or bend over, and has been a chronic issue for about a week, hence my getting concerned it is more than just overworking weak muscles.

Thankfully, most of my time at work is spent on my feet.

I think ice packs and beer + naproxen are in my future

But yes, core and lower back exercises are needed, but they are some of the least appealing things to do.

Yeah, as long as I'm on my feet or lying down I'm fine. It's when I'm sitting down or bending at a certain angle, say, to wash dishes, that I have a problem. My son, who's only 23 and built like a pro linebacker, is already having similar problems. I'm beginning to wonder if it's genetic.
 
The older you get the more you appreciate the moments when nothing awful is currently happening to you.
 
So. Annoyed. I can’t decide whether to stick with it through stubbornness or just can it out of sheer protest and sass.

I used to force myself through books in that situation, in a nearly masochistic way, but now I feel life is to short. Grab me in the first few paragraphs or Fuck you. Say "Call me Ishmael" and tell me about whaling, or I'm gone.

Ice seems to be more therapeutic than the heating pad. We have a foofy anti fatigue mat at the sink so dishes are not a problem (plus being short I need not stoop at the sink)

Sounds like a subluxation in the lumbar/sacral area. Common occurrence in men as they age. Exercises are very beneficial, as is taking breaks from sitting or leaning forward too long. Heat and stretching are used to release the muscles that are tight around that area. Massaging works well to relax the area, even a quick 5 min. one does the trick. But definitely exercise and stretching will prevent that pain from happening and also guard against serious injury in accidental mishaps.
 
Thinking that, as I get older and the people I know get older, I increasingly notice glitches in our communications. Our brains are starting to go. But it will be okay until someday it isn't. Let's decline together and hold each other tight, my dear friends.
