What Are You Listening to Now 7.0

I wish we could embed Youtube videos. I know it's possible with vBulletin. I suppose there's server overhead.

ETA: And, now we can!

I'm subscribed to their YouTube channel. Some interesting stuff for sure. Sadly, nothing can yank me off my doom metal kick. Once again, with deep sadness (because there's no other emotion in doom!!)

Solitude Aeturnus - Into the Depths of Sorrow
While Heaven Wept - Of Empires Forlorn
Avatarium - self-titled
Wheel - Preserved in Time

So effing good!

It is very easy to set vBulletin up to embed YouTube videos, and there is no server overhead - ell the processing is done on YouTube. I.e. the videos are not inhaled into the vB server.

I own a very large vBulletin site dedicated to music discussions, and I've included embedded YouTube, SoundCloud, and BandCamp.

We just need to persuade the admins to do it...

R-Type Final 2 - Video Game Soundtrack

This is all weird. I mean, you can't call your game "Final" and then add a sequel. Still, more R-Type is a good thing, even though I'm struggling to see what kills me most of the time. As for the soundtrack itself - it's a mix of spacey electronica, uptempo trance and some orchestral bits, very well produced and absolutely fitting to the far-future, hi-tech aesthetic the game goes for. Fantastic stuff.

Regarding the "embed vs. link" discussion: I'd need to click on either to hear the song, so in the end it doesn't matter. Links leave much less cluttered posts. IMHO of course.

Well, the R-Type soundtrack was a rather short piece of music, barely twenty minutes. More video game music then.

NieR Automata - Video Game Soundtrack
https://youtu.be/diUaNndYgXQ

This is one haunting, amazingly powerful soundtrack, befitting one of the most heartwrenching video games of the past ten years. The OST version, which I'm listening to, is about three and a half hours long and STILL omitting hours worth of incidental and rearranged music. It's an interesting choice to have a story about the last remaining androids on Earth accompanied by a mostly acoustic musical backdrop, and the fantastic vocals are both a standout and icing on the cake. It sounds good on its own, but becomes a series of delicious gut punches in conjunction with the game.

Lord of the Lost - Priest

I like it, but I suspect I'm going to need to hear it in the context of the album to decide just how much.

(Why yes, they did record an album named 'Judas' and name the first track 'Priest'.)

It doesn't have To Be That Way - The Blow Monkeys

EDIT:

West-End Girls - Pet Shop Boys

Tanzwut - Die Tanzwut kehrt zurück

No surprises, Tanzwut are pretty dependable in their sound, but fortunately it's a sound I like. Only two bagpipes on this one, though - I assume the other three were in for repairs.

Machinae Supremacy - Missiles Of Metal

Part of a large MaSu playlist I have running in the background while writing my twelfth attempt at a Geek Pride story. This year is especially tricky, don't know why. Maybe I'm finally succumbing to cabin fever and depression. Meh.
