I'm not actually "listening" to them, but for some reason I have Asia songs running through my head. "Only Time Will Tell." Somebody help. It's like tinnitus, with guitars.

Pulled this up because I'm thinking through a related story idea. One of the most powerful movie-of-a-musical endings ever, I think, because it adds so much more to what can be done on stage, with its depictions of Vietnam, mass protests at the White House and so on. But musically, it's also fantastic. There's a real moment of musical frisson at the 3 minute mark when the duet comes in, followed by the swell into the chorus, and underpinned by the funky bass and percussion. Would love to see this again on stage (and not just because of the nude scene!).

Listening to it now I realize for the first time that the masterful storytelling, changes, volume of words, and emotional impact remind me of early Bruce.
