New release Friday! Sixteen new releases all from rather obscure bands - or at least bands I've never heard of before.
Ovrfwrd from the USA with "Star Stuff." Due to be released today 10/2/20 but hadn't yet.
Polymorphie from France release Claire Venus." Odd album - main instruments are the saxophone and clarinet with drums and bass. Spoken recital of poetry in French with atonal jazz music. Okay, but I'm not a fan - too atonal.
Norway's Enslaved released "Utgard." Heavy, heavy metal with growls. Need I say more.
Kraan from Germany released "Sandglass." I liked this upbeat, straight prog album.
Pymlico from Norway released "On This Day" an instrumental progressive album which I haven't heard yet.
Italy's Methodica released "Clockwork." This is another I've have not heard yet.
France's Ghost Rhythms released "Imaginary Mountains." Good album - more on the jazz side than prog but well done.
Robert Svilpa from the USA released "To Sleep, Perchance to Dream." That title alone got me to listen and it was worth it. Very good rock prog music with very nice production by good musicians.
France was busy this week also with Scherzoo with their album "05." This confuses me as it is just two short songs offered individually. Haven't heard it yet.
Altare Thotemico released "Selfie Ergo Sum." I need to listen to this prog album again as parts worked and parts didn't work for me.
Juan Ricardo Weiler from Chile released "Eye of Horus." I really liked this album which had a lot of Mediterranean flair to it. Great production with nice compositions.
THEO from the USA released "Figureheads" another album I haven't gotten to yet,
Profuna Ocean released an EP called "Continuation." I haven't listened to this Netherland album.
Benjamin Kite released the free on bandcamp prog album "Ingenious Cacophonies" This Canadian band released a fun straight ahead prog album.
USA's The Reticent released an album about the seven stages of Alzheimer's entitled "The Oubliette." This reminded me a lot of early Opeth. Lots of dark passages with not growls but throat screaming among the regular vocals. Good album not for the faint hearted.
Finally another Canadian release from Illuminated Minerva with the release Enigma Adamantine a nice fairly heavy instrumental prog album.
While not prog it is worth mentioning that Sweden's metal band Amaranthe released "Manifest" today.
Happy music listening one and all! Be safe and well
Peace, love and happiness.
