Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill

(not the horrible Within Temptation cover, mind you. Yuck)

Pity about that cover - Within Temptation's original stuff is usually excellent. Have you heard their (his) new album, Sacrament? I haven't heard it yet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kkbYuYhZBw - I Can't Wait (also check out the Metal Revision if you like that)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njCFs7J7w-s - One Good Reason
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6xE3RlR5RY - Frozen

The thing is, I need my music to have a fast beat. I can't enjoy a lot of 'classic' rock songs because they are a bit slow for me.
Basically when people hear my playlist, they should feel terrified enough to get an adrenaline rush (e.g. the LapFox Trax song)

Whoah - some good stuff listed in the quotes above. Seems I've just found some new music-friends :)

My play list earlier today :

Dan Swano - Moontower

Subterranean Masquerade - The Great Bazaar

Steven Wilson -Insurgentes

Car Bomb - Centralia

Playing Now :

Leonard Cohen - New Skin for the Old Ceremony (his best, IMO)

What did you do in the war, Dad? -- Sonata Arctica

next in the queue:

Helden -- Apocalyptica feat. Till Lindemann
^cover of Heroes -- David Bowie

Rooster -- Alice in Chains

War Pigs -- Black Sabbath

Wrong Side of Heaven -- Five Finger Death Punch

@haulover:Yup, it's off "Season's End". My fave with Hogarth is the "Holidays in Eden" album and I'm a total fail for mixing up those two. ;) I'm a bit behind on current Marillion. Wasn't too thrilled with their output post-"Brave".

Talking about Dan Swanõ: You need to check out his "Witherscape" project. Great prog album between harsh death metal and warm, atmospheric hard rock. The latest Nightingale album is fantastic too.

Within Temptation: I've been listening to them since their "Enter" record, and honestly, they haven't released anything I particularly liked after "Mother Earth". Granted, they have evolved, but I prefer their less overblown, honest stuff. That cover album was the last straw. So much wasted potential.

@J_R_Ashunwhy: Ooh, good stuff. Need to give Sabbath a few spins, it's been a while. My faves are the Dio and Tony Martin albums, but "Paranoid" has so many strong tracks, it's crazy.

"Lift me up" by FFDP is one of my preferred workout songs. So. Much. POWER! Aaaaand Rob fuckin' Halford :)

Ahem. Me? I'm listening to Sirenia's "Dim Days of Dolor" album. New vocalist (again). It's surprisingly good after a very lukewarm year for female-fronted bands. Nightwish, Epica and Delain's new output was technically stunning, but lacking in the long-time appeal. A shame.

You Want It Darker - Leonard Cohen

The old bastard living in a suit went out with one of his best albums, it really is exceptional.

I was lucky enough to see him in concert twice, during the last two tours of Australia,
with Sharon Robinson and the Webb Sisters doing backing vocals. Sublime. The most memorable concerts I have seen.

White Flag

Dido

I love Dido's White Flag

And has anyone ever watched the "Girls Und Panzer" anime series? Here's a great song - german tanks, anime nazi girls .... just perfect.

And for the Brits among is - here's a Brit music clip from Girls Und Panzer - Oggbashan, you might know this one

As for "Girls und Panzers", this is a series about girls and their panzers. What else did you expect? Every girl needs a Panzer.

I haven't listened to much power metal for a long time, and Sonata Arctica was always one of the best in that genre. I should spin them again sometime.

I agree that I far prefer Fish-era Marillion, but they're getting better. I would definitely recommend the double-album Marbles.

I'm so out-of-date regarding Dan Swano's latest work - I (kinda) know the guy, and should be ashamed of myself LOL. I'll see what I can find (/afford).

I understand what you mean by the bold text above, and agree. That has happened to so many bands: They evolve and become more mature with tighter songwriting, better production, etc ... but they lose the edge that caught my attention in their early days. The Gathering is another prime example of that.

I should give it a listen. I don't have much by Sirenia - only Sirenian Shores and The 13th Floor.

Ladies Night line up:

Heaven Knows -- The Pretty Reckless

Blue -- The Birthday Massacre

S+M (a love song) -- Kidneythieves

En Vie -- Apocalyptica feat. Marta Jandová

Comalies -- Lacuna Coil

Elegy -- Leaves' Eyes

Nemo -- Nightwish

:D Hubby just introduced me to her last month, and that was my thought as well.

My favorite thus far:

Shatter Me -- Lindsey Stirling feat Lzzy Hale

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49tpIMDy9BE

As far as rock ladies in electronic songs go, this totally shatters (ha!) Armin van Buuren feat. Sharon den Adel. Forgot the song's title. Thanks for pointing me that way. Halestorm are a relatively new discovery for me too.

@haulover: Yup, The Gathering have drastically alienated me past "Nightime Birds". Ironically, Anneke got better with age and I adore her collaborations with Devin Townsend.

NP: System Divide - Hollow

Female fronted metal for really, really manly dudes :)

Before that

Amaranthe - Hunger

More pop than metal. My lady love (usually the goth queen in our halls) hates them with a passion, I loooooove the cheese. Good workout song too.
