Ladies Night line up:

Heaven Knows -- The Pretty Reckless

Blue -- The Birthday Massacre

S+M (a love song) -- Kidneythieves

En Vie -- Apocalyptica feat. Marta Jandová

Comalies -- Lacuna Coil

Elegy -- Leaves' Eyes

Nemo -- Nightwish

Some good stuff in there. (I've seen Lacuna Coil doing Comalies live)

...
@haulover: Yup, The Gathering have drastically alienated me past "Nightime Birds". Ironically, Anneke got better with age and I adore her collaborations with Devin Townsend.

NP: System Divide - Hollow

Female fronted metal for really, really manly dudes :)

More stuff to look up! :)

Sally Oldfield - Water Bearer (album)

before that

Clannad - Legend (The soundtrack album for the '80s Robin Hood TV series. Huge part of my childhood)

Danger Mouse

Yay! Loved the cartoon. Hasn't aged that well though. Count Duckula on the other hand...

NP: Napalm Death - Harmony Corruption (album)

before that

Obituary - Cause of Death

Early '90s Death Metal mood. I have some Dismember and At The Gates lined up for later.

The guitar tone in the first clip is drop-dead beautiful. The second version is a bit too much sonic damage from the voice. Still, a good song.

NP: William Pitt - City Lights

This is just crazy.

Wintergatan - Marble Machine

I'm currently on something of an exotic instrument bender - synthaxe, kelstone, whamola and the like - and YouTube recommended this. Straight into mad scientist territory. Have a go at the "How it works" vids to appreciate the madness :)

Up for another ladies night...

My Leftovers -- Porcelain and the Tramps

Splatter -- Stolen Babies

The Jeep Song -- The Dresden Dolls

Alibi -- Johnny Hollow

Hey now! 🙀I was just listening to Obituary's album Slowly We Rot in its entirety earlier this morning and followed it up with "The End Complete. Funny you mentioned Dismember because I was thinking about listening to Dreaming in red and Casket garden 👠👠👠Kant💋

On the way to work today:

Beardfish - The Sane Day (Parts 1 and 2)

On the way home:

Accturus - The Sham Mirrors

Oh, that's quite the eclectic selection. Arcturus, among with Immortal and Emperor, were among the first Black Metal bands I listened to willingly :) When your listening habits are formed mainly by Death Metal, the typical BM "frostiness" and occasional lo-fi excess *cough*Darkthrone*cough* takes a while to get used to.

@Kantarii: For me, "Like An Everflowing Stream" does it every time. As for US death, I prefer the blunt approach. Obituary, Massacre, Autopsy, MasteR, early Morbid Angel, that kind of stuff. Okay, Nocturnus and even the late Death albums are fun to listen to, but Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal and later Morbid Angel are too much. I have a strange fondness for Nile though. Maybe because they tend to break up their infernoes with these awesome atmospheric pieces...

You are probably gonna have me busting out At The Gates and listing to World of Lies before breakfast today...haha or at the very least Darkthrone's album Soulside journey. 😇 I like some US death metal, but European/ Scandinavian death metal to me is far superior in many areas. My overal favorite Death Metal band is, by far, OBITUARY. I can listen to John Tardy sing all day. I have seen them almost a half dozen times in concert and have his autograph several times. 👠👠👠Kant💋
