I’m feeling a bit…what do I do next?

I published the novel, no feedback incoming as yet, but I have found a subsequent litany of edits I would like to make to tidy it up, and tighten it up overall. Also considering a 10th chapter for act 3.

Am I overthinking? Over worrying? Itchy writing fingers maybe?

I’ve done the hard work - but I can’t seem to stop wanting to work on it…

Current WIP is the first episode in the second & final batch of the 'Adam at Large' series. I have combined the outlines of two episodes into a single work.

I plan to write four more episodes in the series, then move on to another with a different lead character.

There are different opinions on chapters. Mine is that 3-5 pages (10-15k words) is the optimal length.

Oh God. "The backup" is such a charming breeding ground for plot bunnies. You can throw ANY trope you want in there, and it's cute AF. Jock and goth girl / boy? Do it. Science nerd and bad boy? Hells yes. Maybe-slightly-alcoholic musician and straight-laced Christian? Adorable.

Oh God. "The backup" is such a charming breeding ground for plot bunnies. You can throw ANY trope you want in there, and it's cute AF. Jock and goth girl / boy? Do it. Science nerd and bad boy? Hells yes. Maybe-slightly-alcoholic musician and straight-laced Christian? Adorable.

The only wrench is that it’s super predictable.

I’d spice it up by having two such pairs of friends meet, which results in two overlapping triangles at first (or more complicated figures, depending on which way they swing) but ultimately, the characters end up not falling back to their own backups but rather the “other” ones.

Sometimes though, predictable is exactly what people want. It can still be well written and interesting, not every plot needs a twist - at least not a major one.
