What are we all writing right now?

yeah. It's called "la petite mort" and we girls love it.
Whoever had to translate Dune into French probably had a hell of a time with the litany against climax fear.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

What are we all writing right now?

Absolutely nothing (unless you count brainstorming Angels & Demons stuff with @Djmac1031 that is).

I ought to be writing:

  1. The second chapter of Bouncing Back
  2. The fourth and final chapter of A Good Girl Gone Bad - Emily introduces Ella to the world of gang bangs
  3. A bunch of other partly completed stories
  4. A bunch of half thought out ideas
But I’ve got a whole week of 750 word stories coming out starting tomorrow, so I’ll get over that before recommencing writing.

I haven’t written in a year. I got good reviews and I’m afraid of writing work that is not as good. Really, I shouldn’t care nearly as much about reviews.

I should be writing for me.

I want to write something for the 750 word challenge, but I’m coming up dry.

I started writing poetry a lot last year and I find it simpler, quicker and less structured.

Just a suggestion:

Link to a post on my Xitter - which the official Lit Xitter account reposted.

I am currently floundering on three stories.

-Almost finished a new story but not sure about the direction.
-Slowly reworking an old story of mine to re publish, maybe.
-Notes for a new story started but that is about it.

can't say that's what goes through my mind when I'm approaching escape velocity.

I am pleased, nay overjoyed, to say I have just stopped writing. I have excised the brain worm, I have cast it screaming into the void, I have defeated my tormentor: I have finished something :nana:.

Now I just need to finish the things I was actually supposed to be doing before the brain worm attacked!

teach me your ways, sempai.

teach me your ways, sempai.
Ah, grasshopper, it is all about ignoring every other duty - the child does not have bedtime stories, the student does not receive an answer to their despairing email about failing grades, the stomach is not filled with nourishing food that takes time and attention to prepare... the grumbling partner is stuck with the housework for a week...

How's everyone doing with their checklists? ☺️

A month and a half ago, I had a bunch of things half-finished. I can tick a few things off!
  • The last chapter in my Sisterly Seduction series. Pretty much done. Published.
  • A story about a girl who has recently gone blind. Extremely depressing. Published.
  • 750-word-story for the challenge. Published, wrote two.
  • A dark carnival sort of tale, about trickery, deception and haunting delights. Published.
And progress on the following:
  • A cute "first love" tale. More romance, less filth. (Turning more emotional than originally intended, but I think this will be for Geek Pride. At least it might be a good fit there.)
  • A strange tale about a séance and a lot of mysticism. (Will likely be my April Fool's entry. Nearly done.)
  • Apocalyptic zombie'esque story set in the late 1800's. (Rewrote it. Technically ready for publishing, I just don't love the beginning, the middle part, or the ending, so I think I will devote some more time to it. Or throw it in a fire. Undecided.)
I've also started a new one:
  • Incest story set in the medieval times where a brother is sent to war and his older sister - who loves him in a rather indecent way - secretly follows him.
What about the rest of you? I feel like publicly sharing what I'm working on is good for motivation because I can glance back at my old post and see that I've actually accomplished something. 😝

I just don't love the beginning, the middle part, or the ending,
"Well, it started badly, it tailed off a little in the middle, and the less said about the end the better. But, apart from that, excellent." - Capt. E. Blackadder, presumably not referring to your story

From The Wolf and the Lamb :
" She popped some of her candied nuts into her mouth as she walked back towards the dorms. Her room was in the Blackadder Halls, not far from the seaside; and although small, it was an individual room. No roommate meant plenty of freedom to do what she wanted - which not seldom involved playing with herself - but the walls were thin, so she had found herself with her mouth stuffed more than once just to keep the noises down. "

A total coincidence, but still! ☺️ However, the name of the dormitory in my fictional college town of of Marbella Springs is named after a very real "Agnes Blackadder Hall" at the university of St Andrews, Scotland. (See picture)

I have never heard of the captain you mentioned. Googled it and found Mister Bean. The conspiracy only grows! 👁️

Give yourself the greatest gift you can, and watch Blackadder! Perhaps skip the first season - it has its merits, but it's nowhere near as good as the later ones. The whole series is essentially a collection of quotable lines. Silly situations, hilarious characters and above all witty dialogue.

"To you, Baldrick, the Renaissance was something that happened to other people, wasn't it?"

"I have a plan that's so cunning, you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel."

"Baldrick, do I sense the words "I have a cunning plan" marching towards this conversation with ill-deserved confidence?"

"Two things must ye know about the wise woman. First, she is wise. Second-"
"She's a woman?"
"Oh, so you do know her then?"
"Just a wild stab in the dark. Which, incidentally, is what you'll be getting if you don't tell me where she is."

If we're quoting...

Blackadder - Right Baldrick, let's try again, shall we? This is called adding. If I have two beans, and I add two more beans, what do I have?

Baldrick - Some beans.

Blackadder - Yes... and no. Let's try again, shall we? If I have two beans, then I add two more beans, what does that make?

Baldrick - A very small casserole.

Blackadder - Baldrick, the ape creatures of the Indus have mastered this. Now try again. One, two, three, four. So how many are there?

Baldrick - Three.

Blackadder - What?

Baldrick - And that one.

Blackadder - Three and that one. So if I add that one to the three, what will I have?

Baldrick - Oh! Some beans...

It's up there with Small, Far Away.

Blackadder is like an actually funny Monty Python. It is absurdist humour with moments of poignancy mixed in. It's brilliant, even if somewhat dated these days.
