What are we all writing right now?

At the moment, my focus is on finishing the next instalment of my 'Adam in Public' E/V series. I have the outline of several more episodes waiting.

I am undecided whether to finish those off or switch to something else. If I do, it will either be a follow-up to 'The Fall of Laura' series - as a single work or short series - or a completely new series that I already have some fragments of.

There are a few crossover points between the three options, so I have to think carefully about the sequence in which I write them.

Well, as much as I do want to get back to my Grant and Isabelle story/universe...
I just haven't been able to get back to it.

But i have this Shoshana story in my head that has just been growing and growing... So I am writing that. Chapter one is already posted (and has good ratings so far.) chapter 2-3 have been submitted, and awaiting approval. And I am hard at work with Chapter 4.

The one I'm working on now is a lot lighter than my first story. It's a group of lesbians who decide they want to try it with a man. But where (and how?) to find a nice guy? Hilarity ensues.

Currently struggling with dialgue format on a very kinky story...
Got it rejected for formatting error and I dont seem to find where it is...
When you start a new paragraph, do you use "enter," or "shift + enter?" "Shift + Enter" can hose up formatting conversion software, and I make that mistake ALL the time.

Use enter. The shift enter, which I do by accident too often in dialog shows up as nothing in preview and will get your story rejected for dialog formatting.

Thwnks for the tip!
If it does happen, it's easy to fix. Backspace to the end of the last sentence to remove the shift+enter, then hit enter to start the paragraph. If you use MS Word, you can click on the "show formatting" symbol. That shows you all the hidden formatting Word throws in. It sort of looks like the mathematical "Pi" symbol, with a big dot on the left top of the symbol. Or you can type "show hidden formatting" in the help box, and it will show you what it looks like. You can turn it on or off as needed.

1. The Punishment - A faithful keep is rewarded for her loyalty

2. The Ravishing of Rashmi - A longer story set in an Indian Village, where modern meets traditional, taboo meets duty, and fun meets love.

3. Monsoon Rituals - Planned for the nude day story contest, if I can get it done in time. A priest conducts an ancient ritual one final time, and reflects on how morals and conventions have changed irrevocably

4. Rakhail's duties, Bahu's desires - A man buys a wife for his gay son, intending to use his newly bought daughter in law (Bahu) as his keep (Rakhail).

5. A Day in the Life of Vinod - A loyal maid, a dutiful secretary, a diffident receptionist and a difficult client

There's a few other pieces, but not worth mentioning at the moment. 1 is pretty much done, just needs an editing pass.

My focus right now are 2 and 3, and the others are just side projects at the moment to pass the time.

I think I really stepped in it yesterday.

It was time to start a new project and the best idea I had for a prompt was "A love triangle turns into a polycule"

I had a story that involved a polycule sitting in the warehouse that I put down because it wasn't feeling right, and I've been thinking about dusting it off anyway. So I went over all my material for it, and I had 2 character profiles that were very detailed and I still found compelling that I created for that story.

And then I realized that the reason my initial story wasn't panning out is that the whole thing is about the complex interactions between more than two characters. So as soon as that first pair split off, it lost the plot.

And then I realized that the other reason it wasn't working out is that I tried to start the story in media res of the polycule fully formed and functioning. And so telling the origin story is the obvious fix.

So I decided to rewind the clock 15 years and do a late naughties period piece. Which makes a ton of sense for a lot of reasons in this context. And then I had an amazing idea for the meet cute of the initial pair that also provides scaffolding for an entire plot.

And so I started triangulating what would make sense and be interesting for the 3rd member of the polycule, and ended up musing about that for 2000 words. And then I refined my character profiles of the initial 2 and created one for the 3rd, and then listed all the secondary and tertiary characters that would be necessary to make all the connections I mapped out with the main 3 work. And that's another 2000 words.

And finally, I started an outline...

So I'm 4000 words deep into prep work for a story whose premise consists of 7 words. And I normally do zero prep work, just start writing a scene and see where it goes.

I'm not at all surprised, but it's really funny/interesting to be confronted with the fact that increasing the number of people involved in a romantic arrangement from 2 to 3 represents an exponential increase in the complexity of plausibly depicting it. Feels like a good sign that I'm getting more excited about it the deeper I get into planning.

I was struggling with a sequel I am writing, so I set it aside for the time being. Instead, I am writing a short light lesbian love story, which is going very well so far. I may even finish it today, and possibly get two things coming out this weekend (along with my Nude Day entry).

I've been struggling to get any motivation to write, but I just can't. Six months since my last submission, and I just can't find the juice to work on any of my WIPs.

I went through a similar period and have now emerged from the other side. Entering the Nude Day competition helped. Completely fresh start rather than picking up a WIP.

I feel you on the motivation tip Dave.

Waiting for the latest serial entry to get approved and juggling what the next one needs to be. If I don't write consistently, I'll stop writing altogether. I'm using the forum to keep me writing daily when I'm between ideas.

Actually, I'm between ideas, what should my next story be?

- Nude Day contest? This one's challenging because there's nudity in the vast majority of my stories.
- Cyberpunk serial? I hadn't planned on my last serial being a serial, I just kept writing. This time, I'm mostly prepared.
- Teacher/Student? A request that turned into a much longer story than initially anticipated.
- Some other thing? I'll try anything twice.

I am finishing up Chapter 4 of my Shoshana series. Still waiting for Chapter 2-3 to post.

Got about half a day's worth of writing to go, and then I'll move on to Chapter 5.

Nudity isn't a s
Doesn't that make it easier? If that's your comfort zone, you could work the entry into a future series.
You'd think so.

Nudity isn't a focal point when I write, but I suppose I could make it one for the contest. The difficulty for me comes in taking it for granted. I guess I could just change my style to stop taking the human body for granted and maybe spend a little more time describing my characters.

I had to get out of the habit of introducing my characters like they were walking a runway (hair, makeup, clothing, and accessories) so maybe I've gone too far in the other direction. Describing what it feels like instead of what it looks like is a must for erotica, but this will force me to "look" at my characters instead of just describing them.

41 OpenOffice pages into what I thought was going to be a relatively quick and fun lesbian piece which has veered into something much more dramatic and slow-burn-y than I'd anticipated, and it's all @lovecraft68's fault, which makes this something like the third or fourth time he's inspired me to write something, the bunghole... ;)

I can understand that.

My entry is focused on a 'series of unfortunate events' that cause the staff of a shop to spend a day working naked. I tried to focus on how it makes them feel, and of course, the outrageous sex that results.

Tonight I got hijacked by another story. One I didn't want to write. A follow up to my "Descent Into Bitterness."
Good grief, tears all the way through. I didn't intend to write a sequel to this, I was working on some other stories, and this just took over. Four hours later, 3500+ words, edited and handed over to the admins.

Technically, Melody’s Silence: Unwritten Orders is done and just waiting on my beta reader’s feedback for a few final tweaks. After that, I’m planning to take a short break and actually pretend I know how to relax. Vacation time!

It is weird how things can trigger you. I have been in a non-writing state for many months even though I had multiple. This weekend I started listening to some old disco era music on the radio. It triggered the soundtrack from the movie "The Martian". so I came home and put the blu-ray on for the Martian. I then started working on a Sci-fi novel I hadn't touched in two years, and at the same time looked at all the Lit stories I had started and never finished.

I am almost finished with an IR, which even though not in my wheelhouse, is semi-autobiographical in nature. I hope to see some scores in the 4 for it. The other, to be posted in LW, which is also closely autobiographical in nature, will call them out on their, "the woman Eve, in the bible, is responsible for all the issues that plague men, and should be made to pay for it as should all women. I suspect it will come in with scores in the 1's.
