Well now I've done it. Done it wrong, done it late, and filled it with typos.

Submitted a story for the Valentine's Day contest, in a last-minute frenzy to beat the deadline. Probably not the best way to submit a story for the first time. Particularly since I've found two typos since I sent it. With any luck it won't make the deadline and I can slip outside and bury my typos in the back yard before anyone ever sees them.

The Other Question: Why do the instructions for submission refer to a "submit" function on the Member page that will bring up a form? My Member page doesn't have anything like that. So I e-mailed my typos as a Word doc.

Then what happens?

Wait...what? Are you serious? There's a thing in the control panel for submissions where you can choose to view or submit them....

If you really want to, Sher, you can go to your submissions page and click on pending, fix the typos and hit save changes.

Well, that won't work. My title is too long for the title field. And my title is my favorite part.

I was gonna send you more detailed instructions, but your box is full again. Tramp.

Just in case, here ya go -

Go to the story index.

Click Log In.

Click Submissions. (on the left)

Click Submit Story.

Click the "I Agree" box at the top.

Fill in your title, category, description.

Paste your text into the box or upload your document. (Pasted stories go up a lot faster, I'm told.)

Come back and ask THE question.



I vote for putting it in a thread with a poll, though.

Thanks for suggestions, all. It's too late to do it right for the contest. I kept the full title in the word doc, so if there's somethiing about the Lit story format that prevents the title from fitting in the field, it will be rejected, right? I mean, they won't post the story with a half-title like " I Can't Watch Benny Hill While You're"

Will they?

IIRC, Colly said once that her story "Take Two" was originally titled "Take Two Orgasms and Call Me In the Morning". That wouldn't fit so Laurel shortened it. I assume, if nothing else, they'd try to shorten it to something that fits, but still makes sense.

How difficult is it to un-submit a story if your favorite part was the title?
