10 years ago I had the pleasure of spending 3 months travelling through BC & Alberta as well was the US, did over 36,000 miles in that 3 month period with several trips through the mountains stopping where & when i pleased in the RV that I had bought for the travelling, loved every bit of it.

A big thank you goes to mariposa and D for telling me that adding mineral oil would lower the melting point of the wax. D said that he wasn't sure what the proportions were when I asked her, but it looks like we hit it in one. I went for about a 2:1 mix. The paraffin box said that one square of paraffin makes about 2 ounces of liquid wax, so I had amber add an ounce of mineral oil for every square.

Hmm now I wish I had a lovely sub to play with! When I'm at work at my mom's small candle shop, I have access to lots and lots of melted paraffin! And in at least 4 different colors as well!

From what I remember we keep the paraffin at around 70C/158C to keep it melted, and when we dip the candles we turn it up a bit. A couple of times I've had my hand/fingers into it, and it doesn't hurt to bad, if you can pull the hands out at once, but I can imagine it's a different story if you're tied down

What in the world is "bear mace"? Down here we don't allow bears to have mace so it never occured to me that they might have any.

At 8:40 pm, I left to go to SubUrbs, I grabbed a hot chocalate from Second Cup and proceeded to walk towards WEM, or at least Meadowlark Mall. For those who might have guessed, I was walking down 87th Ave, hoping to catch the 2 or the 4 (Catching the 4 allows me to get on the LRT which then takes a zipline to downtown). I get myself to the Meadowlark's southeast corner busstop - running after the 4 to WEM (If I catch the 4, I have 3 options to getting to downtown: 1, 2 or the 4+LRT.) The bus driver does not stop for me, even as I rap on the door. I stop, catch my breath and finish my hot chocolate. I wait, making sure that the Number 2 does not zip by. It doesn't but thankfully the 4 to University comes the opposite direction (the direction I was hoping to go) and I run across the street and wait for it to make the stop for me.

Anyways, I am on the 4 towards University. The bus is fairly crowded (as it usually is) but there is a seat for me. I make my way to the back and sit there. All is well and we make the necessary loops on and off the Whitemud Freeway and to Fox Drive, to Belgravia, yatta yatta yatta. Once at the University Station, I rush myself downstairs, ever worried that I might actually miss the LRT as I hear it come to a stop while there are 2 flights of stairs and a escalator flight to rush down to. Thankfully it is going the direction I did not go as it would mean it would be back going in the correcct direction in 5 to eight minutes. The LRT comes and I am on my way to downtown. Nothing particularily exciting happens here other than the fact that I get off the LRT at the Central station. I make my way up the escalator and try to orient myself as I was currently situated in the pedway of downtown. I am quick to figure it out though am abashed by the fact that it took longer than usual for me to do so. Quickly still the same. I make my way towards Commerce Place and get up to street level proceed towards Suburbs. Some friends are outside, surprised that I even showed up at the bar as it has been scarce visiting from me there.

Anyways, I go in there and pay the cover of 5 bones. It isn't hard for me to find my friends from there and it isn't hard to find the main reason why I went there - the birthday girl. Of course, the birthday girl might lurk here so I shall only identify her if she so dares to chirrup her own name or comment on this fact. Anyways, quite a few of my friends are there, including one who I have only seen once in the last three years or so. I meet up with purplegrey and after a bit of dancing (hey, they were playing some Hacker. What am I to do, stand still?) Alas, after that, purplegrey and I got ourselves a cab to the venue of Heartbreaker. A fun bit of prattle and gossip was had in there, none of it insidious but rather light-hearted matters were discussed.

We got there around 11:00 pm, paid 15 bones for the cab and got ourselves in. Free coatcheck was suitable for us and placed our coats there accordingly. The music there was pretty good. I can only speculate that what I was hearing then was DJ Dane playing some house. Or maybe he was playing in an hour after my entry but all I remember was finding his set was quite enjoyable. Spilt Milk and K-liff were not favourable to my tastes but they were ok. I met many of my friends there, including James, the one who actually got me into dance electronic music (when he introduced me it, it was refered to as DPS - or Disco Pop Shit - of course this was limited to Eurodance, progressive and funky house and garage.) I also saw my DJ friends (as I assume to be part of the DJ posse or something) and a few other friends including Chthonika - *waves*) Anyways good times were had for the most part, albeit the venue was quite warm, forcing me to go into the smoke pit to cool down - alas the night was disappointingly warm. No sharp breeze to blow away the extraneous sweat and the still air would not give goosebumps.

The hardcore - which was one of the main feature that I had been looking forward too as I am good friends with them. The set was nice, the room was mainly filled (or about proportionate to how filled the main room was) and fun stuff. I won't get into this much as it was mostly feeling of good humour made my way through that set and much criticisms were not had other than the fact that the music was not loud enough - the suspected cause for this was that the records were in fact old (playing classic dutch gabber from the 90's) and so it was going to be quieter no matter how much they turned the knob.

However, funnily enough as Neal K was pounding his set and I came to sit through it as my legs were just simply all out tired and was in fact looking towards going, even if I were to miss the rest of the hard techno and the sort. James and his friends were sitting there chilling with me - a funny weird guy on drugs shouting at us "YEAH, this is techno man woo -oo- er - oo" and hobbling in a funny manner as if he were attempting to dance. Odd, but humourous enough. James was a bit creeped. I get up to try and dance a little bit to the hard techno and as I get ready to so, the music just turns off, Neal K looking bewildered and an electric hum is the only thing heard from the electrical equipment. I am assuring myself, at this point, that it is only technical difficulties being had here but no one is rushing to the electrical equipment, exactly. Everybody is confused, including me and then I see the cops.

Vinny was with them and they were shouting "party is over" - or well, Vinny was, the cops were just trying to get everybody out. A few questions are shot like "how are you selling alcohol in this site? Where is your license? Are you checking ID's?" at Vinny. And then the ultimatum - You have 3 minutes to get everybody out of here or we start pepperspraying people here. That was fun to hear, heh. Everybody starts moving out orderly - no one is really fighting as it is in fact, late and everybody is in fact tired and probably had enough anyways, except for those who came really late. It takes me a while for me to find my coat amongst the hangers as my coat is not on a hanger but o n the floor. Thankfully, it was the only coat on the floor. I go outside and wait for any friends there.

James comes out, then his friends and then a my other friends file their way out. We stand out there, figuring out what is happening and then start figuring out what to do next. What to do next? Get ourselves to go.

"Well, this certainly was a heartbreaker," I mused.

We then made our way home and I'm too lazy to fill out more than that. Just say that I am here and am healthy enough to type out this post, lol.
