Yes but that 12% includes all blacks of all ages. Black males are about 6% of the population and when you factor out those too old and the very young you get an even smaller population of black males who are doing 98-99% of those gun crimes. Maybe 4-5% of black males are committing 54% of all U.S. murders.

I wasn't going to chase it down with that fine granularity but the age and gender stats are in the UCR's as well.
My point is that commit 54% of the murders in America are about 5% of the black population and for the most part male.
