Land Rovers are now owned by an Indian company. Jaguar/Daimler is now foreign owned as are Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

Nissans are made in the UK, but the only wholly owned British car company is Morgan, which makes ancient-looking sports cars.

The majority of legal immigrants want to be, and many are, British.

Wherever you were born you can become British and swear allegiance to the Monarch.

My dentist was originally Finnish, then Swedish, and with me as his sponsor, became a British citizen.

My daughter's Somali friends and their children are now all British and more Monarchist than many born in the UK.

The President of the local Chamber of Commerce was Lebanese, now British, and many of the members were Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, and other nationalities originally but now all British. I am still the Vice-President, the only committee member born in the UK (but I am seen as equally foreign, having been born in Wales).

Being British is a state of mind and anyone wanting to become British has to swear an oath of allegiance to the monarchy, not required from people born here.

But how prevalent is that? Most retain their own culture and try to change the UK to fit their culture, like the banning of pork in schools and the wearing of hijabs.

I don't know any saffer that went there that calls himself british. They still call themselves south african. British whitey might call Ahmed Haji 'british' because he has the passport, but what does ahmed call himself? He probably wont say british.

If he has been through the process of becoming a British Citizen he would probably be proud to say that he is 'British'.

Of course, he will retain links to his culture and religion. Being a Muslim is no bar to being British.

In the US there are German Americans, Italian Americans, and Jewish Americans, but although they might continue to celebrate their country of origin (or their parents or grandparents) they are Americans first.

German Americans celebrate Octoberfest by singing German songs, dancing German folk dances, etc, but in almost all YouTube uploads of those events, the Stars and Stripes are clearly visible.

New British Citizens can swear on the Koran, or the Old Testament if they want to. We have, and have had, Muslims and Jews in the highest offices in the land.

But South Africa? I feel for you. Your current government is fucked up and your crime rate is far too high, as are the imbalances between black politicians and the poor people they claim to represent but do nothing for.

The real problem faced by British Muslims, Jews, and other faiths is that the younger generations, born and educated in the UK, resent the rules and restrictions imposed by their faiths. Why can't they dress and behave like other Brits?

And they were only arrested, not charged. They were risking being assaulted by the massive crowds who have turned out to see The Queen's funeral, some of whom might be sufficiently annoyed by the protest to stuff the protestor's banner up their bum.
