I think I have a birth defect.
I get inspired to write, start writing, get really into what I'm writing and like an 18 year old virgin, I go soft in the middle and lose interest.
similically, of course. It's kinda startin to piss me off.

You sound like me a few years ago. Not that I don't still have that problem, I do. I just learned to deal with it. There isn't much you can do but sit down and push yourself through it. It's fucking painful, but the feeling once you do finish something is great.

Actually, I know quite many authors suffer from the same thing. It's pretty common. (so no birth defect :) )

It is really common, I go through it myself. You would not beleive how long some of my stories took me to finish. I go through ebbs and flows of creativity.

Like fiery said just gotta push through, or wait until you have a flow. ;)

Ladies.

I swear men, too clueless to stand and too many to get rid of.

I have about 40 different story concepts squirelled away in various places that are mostly the result of learning to recognise when an inspiration isn't going to go anywhere productive -- lots of ideas for sexy scenes, without any supporting story behind them to carry them through to even a completed first draft.

They're still good ideas, but they all need to be combined with some other good idea before I'll be able to turn them into stories.

My first thought is that you should stop writing like an 18-year old virgin. You might not lose interest, simillically, of course. :)

I always imagined 18 year old virgins to be rock hard... memory is a fickle thing.

If you can't write it, don't write it. Forcing it, just like a limp dick, has no result.

Exactly. :) I was discussing the writing and being smart-assed, but yes - 18-year-olds always seem to be hard. Forced writing? Blah. It leaves us all dry, you are right.

Doesn't sound like waning inspiration, but waning dicipline. Writing takes effort. The process has it's ups and lows, and getting through the rough patch is most often just a matter of biting down and getting on with it.
