I am just looking for basic information to start with. I looked up the term in websters and here is what I found.

Voyeur

1. A person who derives sexual gratification from observing the naked bodies or sexual acts of others, especially from a secret vantage point.
2. An obsessive observer of sordid or sensational subjects.

Does a voyeur have to observe from a secret point of view? What if the person/persons invite you to watch is that still voyeurism? Do you think the definition can include acts of a non-sexual nature? Are you born a voyeur or do you slowly become one?

The reason I am interested in this topic is this:

I recently had a dream about watching my SO with our best friend. He was spending the weekend with us at the time. I shared the dream with my SO and told her I would like to live out the fantasy. It really turned us both on and she agreed to talk with our friend about it. After several weeks of talking and answering questions and coming to a concrete agreement, we tried it. I alwasy think voyeurs are people who are turned on by watching others having sex, but not in participating in the action. Reading stories on Lit is a bit like that. Sitting in the same room without participating is still in voyeur territory, I think.

I've always wondered about this. Not to be judgemental but rather the eager student on a forever knowledge quest. Do you (generically not just OP) enjoy seeing your girl getting off with another man (especially with a bigger dong) out of love for her and deep desire to see her pleased? Or do you detach emotionally and just get off watching in a pornographic sense? Or is it a way to relieve guilty feelings for cheating on her? Or do you feel inadequate somehow, and feel you need the help of a stud to satisfy her? What is the draw, the fulfilling element in this? This is just something I see a lot of (cuckhold), and I don't really understand. I've thought in the past about letting her have another guy so I could have another girl to spice things up and counteract the guilt, but that was when I felt less emotionally attached to her. Now, eventhough I satisfy her sexually, the thought of my woman enjoying (more than me, simple jealousy) another man esp if better endowed than me, is enraging and degrading and debilitating to me (speaking only for myself). Not to disagree with the OP or the topic, but rather searching for understanding...I am really confused at this time in mid-life and stuff like this increases the noise in my head and sometimes I come across this topic by accident and it gets me worked up in a bad way. Without going into great detail, I'll just say that it was a very loving way of giving two very special people in my life what they had always wanted. I enjoyed watching my wife giving and receiving pleasure and the size of the other man added a slight pornographic flare to the adventure. We are a very loving couple and have a great deal of trust in one another. The experience was very positive for us, both sexually and non-sexually. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone and you should definately think it over very carefully before jumping into an experience like this, but for us it worked out well.

My voyeur history

Thanks to everyone for all the comments. I've been researching voyeurism and cuckholding and have found that I really don't fit into either mold.

Growing up, I had an awesome role model...my father (he was a real gentleman). He taught me to open doors, always let a lady go first, help her with her coat...always put others needs and comforts above your own. This is something that is very ingrained into my personality. So, even if I have the opportunity to "sneak a peek", I'll usually turn my head out of respect. So I don't feel like I am really a voyeur even though I enjoyed seeing my SO with another man.

I'm deffinately not into cuckholding...it took me a while to figure out what this meant. It basically sounds like a fem/dom relationship where the male SO is denyed sex all together or only allowed to give oral sex to his female.
