Has anyone noticed a change in voting on the stories.

I finished a recent series, (not my best or worst) but the flucation in votes have been extreme.

One went from a 4.8 -3.9 in a few hours.

Are there Trolls just voting 1 or 5 to cause trouble?

It's one the reason for the sweeps, which are run on the story file ever so often. Mostly at the end of the month and during contests.

You can also request a sweep of your story file. Just don't over do it. PM Laurel with your request. Please give a reason you think it needs it.

As far as I can tell, there are very few votes that are not either a Five or One. Readers only seem to vote when they feel strongly about a story and 2, 3, and 4 votes don't generally conform to strong feelings. "Trolls" also generally only vote MAX or MIN, if for less savory reasons.

Without access to individual votes, it is impossible to make quantifiable judgements, but I would estimate 80-90% of votes are either Five or One.

Also consider that the totals can fluctuate wildly when there are few votes as yet.

Five votes, four 5s and one 4, can give you a 4.8 rating. With just two more votes, one 2 and one 1, you can flip to 3.9. Just two low votes can do that, and they may not be any more exaggerated than the four 5s were.

My stories were swept today. The views dropped but the scores remained the same.

The comment would seem to be largely irrelevant. The voting is frozen on most of JBJ's stories. I had a vote swept from my most recent entry today too, though.

Weird Harold, if you like playing with numbers here is a post by Carlus Mangus on how to get some rough ideas of your scores. I do recommend you have a calculator handy and please do read Carlus comments toward the end of his posts, they can be very valuable in your calculations.

Have a good time playing with numbers. Remember the numbers are rough.
