Votes removed?

Has anyone else been getting "mini-sweeps" lately? I think I've seen two since the April Fools Day contest. The votes have mostly come off from my older stories. I wouldn't usually think twice about it, but it reminds me of the incident about three years ago when a problem with the new story page caused some massive vote losses.

I see them occasionally on some of my stories.

I only see them because my older stories don't get many new votes so any changes are noticeable. I track weekly so more active stories might hide the sweep because they are still getting votes.

New guy question, mini-sweep?
The site has a way of identifying ‘irregular’ votes, which are then removed. The process has been called a ‘sweep’. They’re normally done during contests and just before results are released, but smaller ones happen from time to time and authors can request one if they feel they’re being targeted by down-voting trolls (‘one-bombing’). Authors are discouraged from speculating here about the mechanisms used as that might give trolls a clue.

Hope that helps.

I have one story that has had a score of 4.91 with 99 votes for a long time. Since I frequently check to see if it has hit 100, I noticed that it dropped back to 98. I haven’t noticed anything else.

Between April 4th and April 9th I saw an increase in my total votes of 132. Not one submission had a drop in votes. There has been a 70 vote increase in the last two days, again not one submission has lost a vote.

Yep, my non-con/ravishment story jumped from a 4.38 to a 4.54 overnight. I figured some 1's got nixed.

I don't even pay attention to it, to be honest.

The ONLY difference that I saw for myself, was that Lucia Pt.2 dropped from a 4.1 to a 3.99 and NO ADDITIONAL VOTES happened.

The only way for that to happen, so far as I can tell, is that you a) had a low vote removed and, b) at about the same time, got an additional higher vote. Vote total is unchanged, score goes up.

It's also possible for logged-in voters to change a their vote.

I don't know how or what happened, only that it did.

I'm confident that it'll get back to my minimum target goal for all my stories. (4 stars)

I've been tracking the Last-30-Day Top Lists for Romance and First Time. A lot of stories on those lists showed drops in vote count on 2/14 and 3/31.

Maybe a tiny trim. I checked those that have just crept up over 4.5, and those right at the bottom of my list as the easiest movements to spot. A couple more Red Hs, and my lowest score is now 4.03, whereas it was 3.98 for a long while.

One of my stories (nearly two years old) recently had a 1* removed, but I had requested action through the Report function a few weeks earlier. The 1* itself was about a year old, which was obvious as the story's only vote that day.

The only one I've paid any attention to was my April Fools entry to see if the sweeps would help my rating.

And it did, slightly lol. And yeah I saw the vote tally drop by several then go back up.

Who knows? It wasn't enough to affect the score much either way

April Fools was weird. Huge sweep that caused two stories to jump way up in score. Like .3 points for one, and .2 for another one. One of them wasn't even an April Fools sudmission.
