Voter Intimidation in Az

Aren’t you the one who always preaches that you have to prove intent. AZ has open carry laws so that would be a common occurance, not sure how intimidating that really is. Interaction with the couple however could be interpreted as intimidation. I agree it‘s senseless behavior. I would certainly file a complaint. I’m from MA, the sight of a weapon for most is SCARY!
And yes, once they get to court, intent of their criminal act must be proven.

Agree, but if they maintain the appropriate distance and don’t brandish a firearm in a threatening manner are they within the law. it becomes criminal when they interact with voters, encroachment on their protected space or accost with verbal abuse. In this case accusation of being a mule stepped over the line. Maybe they were arrested and charged. Any activity that is outside the norm could be interpreted as provocative.

Having tactical gear is purposeful. They should be arrested and prosecuted. Interaction isn't necessary

Any board Trumpette supporting such behavior is just an asshole.

Just curious: what those clowns think they are accomplishing?
in most areas, more democrat or independent voters use drop off boxes than republican voters who tend to prefer voting on the day of elections. Their clothing, arms and behaviour are intended to intimidate... and if it's mostly voters casting ballots for someone other than a republican, or even a maga, then it's plain the intent is to intimidate the vote of any opposition.

Q: if a bunch of p.o.c strode up to the ballot box, wearing camo and openly (legally) carrying firearms, would the idiots do this feel threatened? bet they'd be the first to squawk about antifa, violence, fear of their own safety just because....

My guess is that they are wanting to intimidate those who they deem as mules" (thanks Dinesh, you ass)

Instead, they likely are freaking out people who wish to vote legally.

If they were there to monitor, there would be no need for any gear or weapons.

who has been freaked out

how have they been

SHOW US TEH EVIDENCE
The evidence is in the OP Whether someone reports it or not is up to those on site.

If they aren't there to intimidate, then why do they have guns?

because the law says they can
Got it....they didn't bring visible guns to a polling box location to intimidate.

Right. Please, ask them that under oath and see if that holds up.

I'll put it plainly - if someone shows up at my polling location (drop box or otherwise) with a gun visible, I will report them. And if officials refuse to pursue it, I will be voting against them in the next election (if they make it to that election)

If you're at a polling place, it's to vote. I have no issue with candidates and candidate supporters who obey distance laws, without weapons, being there to campaign.

There's no reason to have weapons near a polling place that is legal, imo.

What the fuck are you yammering about?
The fact that in gun-crazy America, these ass-wipes are legally required to stay 75 feet or so from polling places, but bullets can reach 1900 feet, as 60 people found out October 1, 2017. Anyone saying these GQP mafia guys aren't deliberately trying to intimidate and discourage voters is full of shit.

If you live in AZ and encounter armed people near a drop box, don’t be intimidated. Be like the Lister in this thread who said if it happened to him, he’d “walk by the drop box multiple times, suspiciously, just to fuck with them.” 👊

Yes, I get that you missed the reporting part.

If you live in AZ and wish to monitor drop boxes, make sure you carry automatic weapons and tactical gear, so you can record activity properly. And obviously park your "don't tread on me" truck and grab your folding chairs and coolers full of bud lite. Essential equipment

Yes. Voters who encounter the situation should be a bad ass like you. Report them and fuck with them.

" PHOENIX (AP) — The sheriff in metropolitan Phoenix said Monday he’s stepped up security around ballot drop boxes after a series of incidents involving people keeping watch on the boxes and taking video of voters after they were apparently inspired by lies about the 2020 election.

On Friday, deputies responded when two masked people carrying guns and wearing bulletproof vests showed up at a drop box in Mesa, a Phoenix suburb. The secretary of state said her office has received six cases of potential voter intimidation to the state attorney general and the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as a threatening email sent to the state elections director. "

" “Uninformed vigilantes outside Maricopa County’s drop boxes are not increasing election integrity,” Stephen Richer, the Maricopa County recorder, and Bill Gates, chairman of the county board of supervisors, said in a joint statement over the weekend. “Instead they are leading to voter intimidation complaints.”

Richer and Gates are both Republicans. "

-----------------------

" Asked at an unrelated event Monday whether he was concerned about reported intimidation in states like Arizona, and if the Justice Department would get involved, U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland said the department has an obligation to “guarantee a free, fair vote by everyone who is qualified to vote, and will not permit voters to be intimidated.”

A group of drop box watchers seen filming a drop box in Maricopa County last week told a local reporter they were with Clean Elections USA, a group that is gathering teams to watch drop boxes in several states this midterm season."

https://cleanelectionsusa.org/ - they are 2000 mules nutters. Strange enough, while they do encourage volunteering to "watch voter drop boxes" in their blog, it doesn't seem to mention assault rifles nor tactical gear.....wonder why.

Maybe Dinesh has a comment on the matter.

The right wing election lies are the gift that keeps on giving.

Of course that's needed because the actual right wing policies championed by Ish and A_J for decades don't attract voters.
